      peace gobsnail,

Can you clarify your statement does what you said imply there is no afterlife for example?

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

I think it was Arnold Yasin Mol that pointed this out a while back. The concept of there being a "day" when all dues are paid seems a bit unrealistic as opposed to thinking of ones lifespan as an era, within the limits of which one is judged and receives the judgement according to His law of requital (karma).
        Thoughts?

        Peace,
        Respectfully.

The Day of JUDGEment is not necessarily an actual day like the one we have here, made of 24 hours, which consist of 60 minutes and those have each 60 seconds and so on and on.
Besides, we are told that the judgment will be very quick if your good deeds exceed bad deeds, you go to Paradise, if bad deeds overcome the good, you are thrown in the Fire.

        Simple, right?
        Peace.

Of people baselessly questioining about judgement day
Surah45 AlJathiyah 32 And when it was said that teh promise of Allah was true, and that the hour there was no doubt about it's (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what it is the hour; we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'

          Of not doubting the day
Sura3 Al Imran V25 But how (will they fare) when We gather them together against a Day about which there is no doubt.

          Interaction between people
Surah43 Al Zukhruf V67 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another - except the righteous
Surah46 Al Ahqaf V6 And when mankind are gathered together (at the resurrection), they will be hostile to them and reject their worship.

Actvities of the people on that day
Surah45 AlJathiyah 28 And thou wilt see every sect bowing to it's knee...

About trying to discern the finer details - matters that we can not prove as such

Surah3 AlImran V66 Ah! Ye of those who fell to disputing (even) in matters of which ye had some knowledge! But whydispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? It is Allah who knows and ye knows not!

                Peace,
                Respectfully.

I think it's much more important that we do as many good deeds as humanly possible because on the DAY of Judgment, Time won't matter, your wealth, wife, kids, house, Ferrari, coin collection and laptop won't matter, only your book of deeds.

May Allah The Most Just guides us on the Straight path and protects us all from satan the outcast.
                Peace.

                  Quranic commandment Do good. PERIOD.

Muslims Do good. Or else you shall burn in eternal hell.

                  WTF?!?!

Time spent worrying or arguing about a "day of judgement" is time wasted against that very thing.

What's your evidence for day of judgement/ yawm iddeen being 'the hour' and 'the day' etc?

Yawmiddeen is day of the deen/system, not judgement.

If we carefully read 3878-79, we'll find that Satan wants to respited 'till day of resurrection AND not the day of the deen/system or judgement if you prefer i.e. they are two different days.

                      Thanks House Md

For your revelations on the definition.

However I don't see how the exact meanings change anything.

I am still intent on living my life doing good works whether it be a day of the deen system or judgemet or no day at all - it makes no difference in our practical lives - the message for doing good still remains the same.

I was not arguing that it was day per se - I was using the term used in the Quran to highlight the matter being discussed.

It is fruitless to fixate on the semantics of words when the focus should be on the message or throughts that are sought to be transmitted.

Yet another attribute of intellect over-riding teh truth.
