a problem with my email address being displayed

hi guys,

dont know if this should go here or not but i have a problem with my email address being displayed on main site. when i signed up for the site, i checked the "keep address hidden" option but soon after joining, my account started filling up with mad amounts of spam. i have always been careful about giving out my email address to avoid this and when i check my profile, my address is hidden on the forum but it actually does show up on the main site on this page http//www.free-minds.org/members/europe.htm. in a list of all the members. consequently when someone puts my email address in a search engine, they are directed to this page. i wonder if there is a way to remove my email address from this list but remain a member.

I have the same problem.....I tried getting rid of my email being showed to the public, by changing my details on my profile and it isnt working.....can someone help please....

When I check your profile it says "hidden". I think you may be mistaken because when you view your profile it is still there in italic font (which means it is hidden from the public). I hope this helps... unless I have mistaken your problem.

Not like that. You don't need to go to profile. Just on the members list, some have an enveloppe icon which, when clicked, shows the email address. I think the enveloppe should not show if you tick the "Hide email address from public?"

Thanks for your replies....at my end, i can still see the envelope on the members list and i can also see the email address on my profile.
I have ticked the box to hide my email....I will try again, and if it makes no difference a third time, i'll come back.

i hadnt noticed that mine is in that "members" are too. i kind of dont mind as much for it being there because even though it can be viewed in the source code, spambot email-trawlers havent picked up on it yet. since my original problem was fixed i have seen a 95% decrease in spam coming into my account. and search engines dont seem to pick up on it there. anyway it would be better to remove it as if someone wants to email me, they can always just pm me and it alerts my email account or they could join quranconnection.com so hope this is fixed too.

boomerang its strange that your email appears in your profile. its definitely there, i can see it....
