Location of Muhamad

Layth's article 'Where was Muhamad' is indeed an interesting one, as it is perfectly possible that he may have live his life outside of present-day Saudi Arabia, as is the belief of the majority of Muslims.
However what about verse 4824 of the Quran? There is a SPECIFIC reference in it to 'Makkah'. Even though this says nothing about haj to be done at that place, what is this reference concerning? I have searched through many Arabic dictionaries including Lane, Wehr etc and I cannot find any meaning for this word. If I can find a meaning for it then the verse could be understood better.
I think it is actually ESSENTIAL to find this out as if it is referring to the present-day city of Makkah in Saudi, then that would suggest Muhamad was in Saudi would it not?

Isn?t it interesting that an article of Aidid Safar opened Layths eyes (he posted this somewhere), and that there is a direct link from Safars site to the site of the Mohammad-hater, Rafat Amari. I?m not accusing anyone, but is it possible that these Mecca-Speculations are not more than a "conspiracy" made up by Christian missioners?
Despite the fact that there is some kind of "proofs", I can?t imagine how Muslims could "forget" that the pilgrimage has to be done in Jerusalem?

Hi all, peace,
I have a question
first can anyone help translatin correctly this
In 16103
here is Yusuf Ali translation
We know indeed that they say "It is a man that teaches him." The tongue of him they wickedly point to is notably foreign, while this is Arabic pure and clear. What I understand from this is
- There were people speaking other languages than arabic in Mohamed location
Question
- Is there evidences that in Mecca around year 660 people were speaking different languages (knowing it is a small town, middle of the desert etc etc)
- Is there other town Petra, Jerusalem etc etc that have evidence of such mixed culture.
Thanks

Well certainly Jerusalem had a mixed culture, there would have been Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, the remains of Greek and Latin, etc.

Yes, there is a hadeeth in relation to this ayah saying that the mushrikeen claimed the Prophet s.a.w.s. was instructed by a Greek blacksmith.

Salam,
I have read a book explaining some physical nature of Prophet Muhammad popular among the sunnis.
Example
- His skin is white with a bit reddish on his face if he looks angry.
- His hair is thick and very black, not curly but wavy and long past his ear lobes.
- His beard is thick but not too long.
- Not too tall and not too short.
- His chect is not hairy, but a small stream of hair.
- His eye is big round, and his nose is high but not too sharp and his forehead is quite wide.
I'm not sure about the authenticity of this book, maybe told through generations, but not to idolised Muhammad too much for his perfect biological nature.
But, the point is regarding the nature of his description. even though not really scientific in nature as DNA is concerned, but maybe those who are specialist in human dan demographic archaeology can estimate of his whereabout in rergards to the description as above.
Or, maybe he's from northern Arab peninsula.
or, maybe we can extract some DNA or forencic evidence from his belongings, such as his sword, turban, cloth, hair or teeth.
Still open for research.
