    Peace Dawn,
Wudu, it?s all about hygiene. As you can see in Quran, there are so many verses talking about ablution both physically and mentally..
In verse 811, God has sent down the water from the sky to cleanse us, and He has explained how to do it in 56.

811 Sleep overcame you to give you tranquility from Him; and He sent down to you water from the sky to cleanse you with it and cause the affliction of the devil to leave you; and so that He may strengthen your hearts and set firm your feet.

56 O you who believe, if you rise to commit (on hygiene), then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands with it. God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you and to complete His blessings upon you that you may be thankful.

Allah wants to cleanse the believer, both physically and mentally. And Verse 56 confirming physical ablution.
Some people think that ablution is precondition of Salaa. I think the ablution (physically and mentally) itself is Salaa (commitment on hygiene).

Now let's jump into alcohol thing.

443 O you who believe, do not make commitment while you are intoxicated, until you know what you are saying.

Most of commitment made according to the books dealing with other people, such as covenant, marriage, trading, etc. When you made commitment, you have to know for sure what you are saying. Too much alcohol makes you get drunk, and you cannot control your mind and you won't remember what you are saying.

It's very clear after saying unrealized commitment, you will get strife with other people

591 The devil only wants to cause strife between you through intoxicants (khamr) and gambling, and to repel you away from remembering God and from the commitment. Will you be deterred?

    Peace

      Peace Tlihawa,

Thanks for your response. I agree with you with wudu being the salat itself and your explanation of the alcohol issue makes sense.

      Dawn.

        Peace
most of the translators made there job by referring the so called hadiths and they failed in giving the true meaning of THE BOOK.
Those who tried to translate it using THE BOOK alone too failed to give the true meaning just because of the traditional so called sects.though they are not believing in sects.Their mind is always thinking of traditional rituals. First they have to remove it from their mind and heart.
Quran is a literature it needs a good scholars to translate it.
Very soon we are going to translate it in Tamil.

                56 "... "
as per my understanding "FA" means something like "THEN/THUS", so why do you think that the ablution itself is the salaa?
also if you hold the same logic then "yunuban" itself is "tahar".
Can you please explain how you see this?

                  Salam Bender,
yup, you might right. I'm not good enough in arabic, but I can see logical fallacy in my conclusion. But let's make it right by linking these following verses

=Commitment (Salla) to recite Al Quran=

1778 Uphold commitment at the sunset till the darkness of the night, and quran at dawn and the Qur'an at dawn; the Qur'an at dawn is witnessed.

= Dal-Lam-Kaf = rubbing, squeezing, pressing, decline, sinking, become red, set, incline downwards from the meridian (sun). The whole phrase "duluk-as-shams" defined as "sunset" by Lane.

1779 And from the night you shall reflect upon it additionally for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you a station that is praiseworthy.

Here, the commitment is to recite Al Quran.

The time frame here is match with the following verse

11114 And uphold commitment at the two ends of the day and the near part of the night. The good deeds take away the bad. This is a reminder to those who remember.

So we have three part of the day. The dawn, the dusk, and the night, to recite Quraan.

                  =Purpose of Reading Quran=

2187 ...seek what God has written for you..

                  =Do and Don't=

                  Do
                  56 O you who believe, if you rise to commit (reciting quraan), then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles;

                  reason behind this

56 ....God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you <liyuahhirakum>..

                  caused by
5677 It is an honorable Qur'an.
                  5678 In a protected Book.
5679 None can grasp it except those purified <muaharna>

                  Dont's

Having sexual intercourse before recite Al Quran.

2196 ...If you are abstain from sexual intercourse <uh'sir'tum>, then it will be easier for the guidance <hadyi> ; and do not disturb your heads until you reach the guidance (to be focus).

                  if you do it then

56 ... and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe...

                  Same reason
56 ....God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you <liyuahhirakum>..

                  caused by

So here we talk about the physical ablution to make it easier for the guidance. But I need your input to make it right, especially in arabic grammar in case I missed something or made logical fallacy. Thanks!

                  Peace..

Does the last one really mean ablution?
Could it possibly be understood as " grasping the meaning ", and only those who have purified consciousness can?

Yes, you can say that. There are so many verses talk about h r in that context. But I think both h r physically and mentally is required.

well I think it's about mental purification, or simply we're ordered to purify ourselves for our health.

Yup, it's up to opinions )

But you need to consider that both physical and mental purification do exist. And both of them required actions.
As you can see, that physical purification required ablution. And the mental purification required sadaqati.

9103 Take from their money a charity <sadaqatan> to purify them and develop them with it, and make commitment with them; your commitment is a tranquility for them; and God is Hearer, Knowledgeable.

You could not eliminate the involvement of the 'actions' (I prefer to use this word instead of rituals )). You cannot get purified mentally before giving sadaqati or charity, and the ablution for the physical purification.

Both of this actions will end up with reward from God, the guidance.

But please be aware that the mental purification mentioning the Sadaqati, not Infaq.

You might be aware that Infaq is different than Sadaqati from the point of the recipients and the source of funding.

                          =The source of funding=

2219 ..And they ask you how much they are to spend (yunfiqna) , say "The excess." It is thus that God clarifies for you the revelations that you may think.

9103 Take from their money a charity <sadaqatan> to purify them and develop them with it, and make commitment with them; your commitment is a tranquility for them; and God is Hearer, Knowledgeable.

After making the monthly budget, we shall know the excess amount of our money. This is what we called Infaq. It's a predictable expenses.

And the Sadaqatan is a little bit different, it used the word, "take", means that this expense could be not listed in our monthly budget. It could be unexpected costs, or in the other words, the money that we love.

You will got the context if you read the verses which talks about sadaqati.

                          =The Receipients=

960 Indeed, the charities <sadaqatul> are for the poor, and the needy, and those who work to collect them, and those whose hearts have been united, and to free the slaves, and those in debt, and in the cause of God, and the wayfarer. A duty from God, and God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

2215 They ask you what they should spend <yunfiqna> , say "What you spend out <anfaqtum> of goodness should go to your parents and the relatives and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer. And any good you do, God is fully aware of it."

So the recipients which are in common between sadaqati and infaq are only the needy and the wayfarer. So we must be wise enough to allocate our money between the recipients, to optimize the purpose of Infaq and Sadaqati.

                          peace..

                              Wakas,

good work on the real meaning of Salat.

Saad-Lam-Waw (slw). E.W. Lane's Arabic-English lexicon/dictionary gives the following possible meanings of the root

prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached, to contact or to be in contact.

Reading most of the verses, the word Salat could in a way mean,
                              Proclaim, in favor of, publicly/openly,

So I think, Aqimus Salat, was essential one for bringing people to the religion by not going astray, always by Salat ie.

Proclamations, esp of good favorable words being delivered and this is what Aquimus Salat meant, esp it involves reading/teaching and listening.

i think the Zakat part refers the acting part or demonstration one does based on the proclamations/words given.

some of verses this gives clear understanding,

                              33/56
Angels and god giving favorable words for the messenger/leader, and people also should also do that with messenger and greet him while seeing him.

                              19/56
neglected doing the proclamations given and followed their own hidden desires.

                              9/5
if they repent and establish the proclamations .. then...

here i think it means, when Zechariah was standing waiting for the proclamation

An outside session where the leader giving his proclamations to people, should be in groups and protected.
                              4/104
If stopped attending/doing this session due to some issues, then remember God while standing sitting or lying and then come/do later when in good condition,
attending this is fixed at specified terms/time intervals.

                                Wakas,

good work on the real meaning of Salat.

                                9/5
if they repent and establish the proclamations .. then...

I am happy to hear what you say. If you are honest and allow Allah to guide you, He will guide you fully with time. Be patient and be unbiased but approach Allah alone.

Here are my understanding of Salat.

2238-239 Sustain upon the interactions (al salawat) and the astuteness/sharpness (al wasat) of the interaction (al salawat) and, uphold to Allah/the Savior consistently; While that, you bothered then delve/research or endeavor upon, then when you assured so, concentrate of Allah/the Savior as what He revealed you what not you were realizing.

                                ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ = INTERACTION, الصَّلَوَاتِ = INTERACTIONS, الصَّلَاةَ = CONNECTION, صَلَاتِ = CONNECTIONS … and verb forms are connect / interact.

Interaction typically requires some form of connection, whether it’s physical, spiritual, or contextual. The nature of that connection may vary, but it serves as the foundation for interaction to occur. Without any connection at all—physical, spiritual, or otherwise—interaction would likely be impossible, as there would be no shared medium or context to facilitate it.

INTERACTIONS/sala pave deep inroads to PURITY/Zakah (spiritual) and without interactions one cannot purify oneself. life should have interactions of any sort to recognize who he is..

Note These INTERACTIONs could be any sort. be it with Allah or Quran or with people or family or nature etc..
