    Peace all,

    I am trying to understand why would God Almighty, the One and Only, swear by the 'Day of Resurrection' and by a 'blaming (accused) soul', as understood by various interpretations as follows (taken from Quran.org)

    075.001
    YUSUFALI I do call to witness the Resurrection Day;
    PICKTHAL Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection;
    SHAKIR Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection.
    KHALIFA I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

    075.002
    YUSUFALI And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit (Eschew Evil).
    PICKTHAL Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true).
    SHAKIR Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul.
    KHALIFA And I swear by the blaming soul.

    Note that Yusufali makes somewhat sense when he interprets to quote that God is calling us to witness the Day of Resurrection (751) and again in 752 when God is calling to witness the disgraceful soul on that day (perhaps the one who disobeyed God in the first place, ie. Iblis), without God swearing.

    Perhaps these verses could have been misinterpreted or misjudged altogether. Can anyone please further enlighten?
