    Peace,
    Respectfully.

I think a better questions needs to be asked"Why do sunnis get upset and insulted, when you mention prophet Muhammad and you don't add pbuh?"

Of course, at that moment one is risking a punch in the face.... God forbid.
    Glor ybe to our God.
    God bless you all.
    Peace.

      Blessings to all,

The Quran shows a lot of history, and many verses are meant for the believers at that time. The verses connected with the word prophet apply only during the prophet's life on earth. Right? Here's a verse that tells the believers not to raise their voice above the voice of the prophet.

      Yusuf Ali
O ye who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk, as ye may speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds become vain and ye perceive not.

Since the prophet no longer has a voice, wouldn't this have ended when the Prophet died? The prophet is dead so how can we do this now?

And here is a verse proving the prophet died (for the sake of argument).

      Yusuf Ali
Truly thou wilt die, and truly they will die.

So, one can also apply this to

      Yusuf Ali
God and His angels send blessings on the Prophet O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.

I don't know of any place in the Quran that refers to the prophet as "Nabi" after his death.

      peace,
      dotty

Salaam, dotty... and nice meeting you!

I have that interpretation as well... and if it is incorrect, may ALLAH have mercy on us and I trust that He will reveal the truth to those of us that seek ONLY HIM for our guidance and understanding through our reading and studying of the Qur'an.

Peace and blessings... ALLAH knows best! peace

Nice to meet you as well angel

Surely we can be wrong in our perception of the truth. I go with what makes sense to me and constantly ask God to protect me from false religious teachings. I pray God protects us all.

              Salaam, Sis Dotty...

Thank you very much for the compliment. I am striving to be a good Muslimah. I pray that ALLAH will guide me on the Straight Path... and the HE will protect me from anything that will cause me to stray in any way from the TRUTH.

If I am to lead others to ISLAM, I must be a good and proper example for them to witness.

ISLAM is beautiful... and ALLAH is so much more than even that! No one can go wrong in choosing ISLAM and becoming a devout Muslim.

ALLAH knows best, MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL!

I wish all could know... and I will do my best to show, Insha'allah!

              Peace and blessings, Sis... peace

I think that we shouldn't fake anything in religion and in our relationship with God or other people. One thing is to show due respect to everybody in the proper circumstances, another is to pretend that we feel or believe what we do not. If by asking for blessings for the messenger we are forcing us, what is the good of it? If you say from your heart and conviction, then whay not?

Again, islam is not a one size fit all but a truthful Quran fits avery one of us. We are all different, each minute in our life may be different, so tht what we did or thought one year or thirty years ago may be useless to us now, or not, and things that we didn't even suspect before may become essential and generous to us.

May be some or many tradition bound muslims are narrow minded and one size fits all, but generally we people should be as accepting of sincerity in others as possible. We must trust that if the intention is good, eventually whatever is done will help the doer to better understanding of truth and cleseness to God.

                Salaam

                          Salaam, and APOLOGIES...

                          Sorry, Sis Huruf...

I had no idea and I can certainly understand! That's exactly why I added the "A Lady" part after my name, "The Meek One," because many were mistaking me for a male.

Well, I just made the same mistake! -[ I truly am sorry.

In that case, I offer you my COMPLETE title, including "A Lady"... for 2 days! ;D

                          Peace and blessings!

No Title - for 2 days! peace

No problem, this is a common mistaque where no name unequivocally gendered and recognizable as such is employed. Sometimes I say something, sometimes I am too lazy. But no worry, no trublesome transgender operation for me yet.

BUT WHERE IN QURAN DOES IT SAY P.B.U.H. AFTER NAMES LIKE IBRAHIM, YAKUB, ESA, NUH ETC. ETC.?

Muhammad is a special case because he was alive at the time. We don't know how Muhammad referred to past prophets because that's sunnah and no sunnah is reliable. So far, I haven't seen P.B.U.H. after any past prophets' names in the quran. If Allah doesn't say to say PBUH after ALL prophets' names (not just Muhammad), why should I force myself to do what Allah hasn't asked me to do?

                                    Peace

It says peace be upon them several times most of them in the sura 37 - Ranged in Rows, here you are

'Peace be upon Noah among all nations!'
                                    3777

and we let them be praised by succeeding generations 'Peace be upon Abraham!'
                                    37108-109

We let them be praised by succeeding generations 'Peace be upon Moses and Aaron!'
                                    37120-121

We let them be praised by succeeding generations 'Peace be to Elijah!'
                                    37129-130

                                    And most important of all

Your Lord, the Lord of Glory, is far above what they attribute to Him. Peace be upon the messengers and praised be to GOD the Lord of all the Worlds
                                    37180-182

Here the MESSENGERS and GOD are said in the SAME BREATH!!! just like the Sunni Shahadah...Does that mean its shirk? but these are the Words of God, does that mean God is contradicting Himself? No! Because when GOD says peace be upon the messengers it means peace be upon them for the MESSAGE they delivered about devotion to God alone which is why it links on to the most important conclusion of all "praise be to God the Lord of all the Worlds". As the God says 'truly they were among Our faithful servants' They acted out God's duties for them and they were faithful therefore their examples of MESSENGERSHIP and nothing else is something we must all strive for to attain PEACE. Which is why God says Peace be upon them for the example they represented so that anyone who sees them as an example to follow ONLY in what is given in the Qur'an and no separate fancy story MAY have Peace upon them from the Lord of the Worlds.

Don't let anyone tell you there is anything wrong with saying Peace be upon the messengers. But we must understand the REASONS why we say it and we must not let it become obsessive compulsive like saying Insha'Allah without being conscious of it. I think we should be conscious of everything we say and know that by following the example of the MESSENGERS (which is what they are referred to in sura 37, God is very specific about wording) and wishing peace on the examples they represented is NOT bad or shirk or anything, It's in the Glorious Qur'an so you can see for yourself.

We must not make mistakes of thinking some things are in error because they are in the Hadith when they may also be in the Qur'an just the interpretation or the meaning behind it may have changed. What you must understand is that there is no compulsion in God's system, God says peace be upon them so you know them as examples to follow. When you recite the Qur'an at night you will see these words as well if you read sura 37 all the way through, this means you are repeating the message out loud in your head for clarity and emphasis. You will emphasise these points and hopefully will lose doubt about saying Peace be upon blah. Whether peace is said before or after the name is not relevant.

                                    Peace

Salaam, All... and nice meeting you, Soof...

I haven't yet had the chance to go and look up the verses you (Soof) supplied, because it's past my bedtime. But, I wanted to reply before loggin out ;D.

Thank you for your information and explanations that you have provided for everyone to verify for themselves (although, again... I haven't done so yet, but I will). Also, I do realize that you did quote the post of the person you posted this message for, but I just wanted to respond anyway. If you don't mind?

I just wanted to say... on behalf of myself and probably others... I personally don't have a problem at all with anyone who says "pbuh" after mentioning the Prophet's name... or any other Messenger (however, I do think that it's only fair to do this for ALL, if any... and not ONLY the Prophet Muhammed, because we are not to make any distinctions among them); however, I do have a problem with other Muslims becoming hostile with me or others if we choose NOT to say this. Just as we should not become irritated with those who choose TO say this... those who choose to, should not become irritated with those of us who DON'T.

I believe and TRUST in ALLAH, that if I AM to mention "pbuh" after each of the Messengers names, He allow me to find and understand His words as such... in other words, if HE is COMMANDING me to, then I most certainly will. But, if ALLAH is presenting it in the Qur'an as an option or a choice, then there may be times when I will... and times when I won't. But, again... if it is not a command from ALLAH, then I do not wish to be interrogated by other Muslims as to my "conduct" for not doing so.

I wish to serve ALLAH and allow Him to guide me to the Straight Path. I don't wish to follow men and "tradition" and get so caught up in things that are not commanded or advised by ALLAH... too much confusion there. Peace, nice to meet you too

I agree totally. Thats why I said in the post we must not become obsessive compulsive about saying things in the Qur'an that are not commanded, everytime we mention something we must know why we are doing it always, just like Wudu, it shouldn't become reflex, we must do it slowly and understand why we are doing it each time, this is so that we gain further mindfulness of God and put aside our Earthly worries for that time. If everything becomes ritual or reflex it means we can do all these duties whilst plotting to do evil and corrupt acts (Like the Mafia baptising themselves or repenting to a Catholic priest)

If someone in their fallibility does not say PBU the Messengers nowhere in the Qur'an does he say he is a transgressor. God mentions it so we understand why there is peace on the Messengers. The main reason people you talk about will interrogate you and get angry with you is because they are Sunni. In all honesty their religion is about Muhammad not God. They have erected Muhammad as a partner God just as the Christians have with Christ, what is more alarming is they scoff at Christians for their obvious shirk and neglect their own faults. So not saying PBUH to a Sunni is like not Emphasising Jesus is the Christ to christians because they hold it in VERY high regard. Muhammad the man not the messenger is their shining example. If they truly understood what PBUH meant - that it is referring to the Messengership of the man not his life - then they would realise that Sunnah of the prophet becomes redundant as all necessary accounts of Muhammad's messengership is in the Qur'an.

                                        Peace and Goodnight

                                          Peace

Well Done, and may God increase your Wisdom peace
