I reverted at Sheperds Bush Masjid. I realised that after I had taken Shahada, that the Imam seemed quite sexist. I asked him why women can't make the call to prayer. and he said because a man has to. RIDICULOUS, I know. After questioning myself about what he had told me. I went back and asked him what sect he is from and why he follows Hadith.

    He said-

I am sunni, and I follow Hadith because it is the words of the prophet

    I said-

What about the words of God, have you forgotten them? And btw, we aren't allowed to be part of a sect.

    He said-

    but....

    I said-

I took the real Shahada last night from the Qu'ran

    He said-

    It isn't in the Qu'ran

    I said-

Maybe you should read it, seeing around the time of the prophet (pbuh) there was no 'sunnah' and that people lived in far away places and had to refer to the Qu'ran as the Prophet (pbuh)was not around to give them guidance (even when he was alive). And besides, it was documented 300 years after the prophet (pbuh) passed on. So really, its value is the same as the Bible.

    He said-

    ...........

If you are ever questioned by people, just be stern and use logic. The Qu'ran isn't poetry, it doesn't need hours of deciphering, only reflection on its wonder. It is straight forward to understan, no numerous interpretations!

    Thanks for listening O0

      Peace,
      Respectfully.

welcome to the forum and may The Exalted God The Most Merciful, The Most Wise reward you with Paradise.
Nice story, very educational, i had similar experience while being in UK. I lived in Bayswater, Kensington and later moved to Leicester, which is between Leeds and Birmingham.

Tell the imam, if The Exalted God The Most Powerful, The Most Merciful didn't forbid women to call to the prayer, then we can't prohibit something He AllMighty didn't prohibit. But on second thought, you might wanna avoid sunnis for a while. I can tell you from my own experience i just prayed according to The Quran and received a death threat in the middle of the Regent's Park. In person.

      God bless you.
      Glory be to our God.
      Peace.

Nice one. This is encouraging for me, it shows me that people do actually have sense and reasoning still. More power to you, I will pray that God will continue to guide you and bless you.

            Peace

                  Salam
Ur story taught me alot Mashah Allah
Frankly I have learnt alot here Alhamdulilah..and I have been here since less that 1 week
Atleast the people here dont say "Or u dont have the right to do this..or this is haraam"..
                  I was having enough!!!
Here it is another peace..I mean we kind of share each other's feelings and stories..esp abt daily life.
The Muslims here are very sincere Mashah Allah
And am reallly proud to see this reform among muslims..
I wish I were here before..
Whats most important is to see that RATIONALISM that prevails..Its the Islam that the Scholars wanted to see am sure..Not just superstitions!!
                  Fee Amanillah
