Recently I came across this youtube video talking about prophecies in the hadith which are apparently coming true today. I checked the hadith collections and these hadith are actually there. I'm inclined to believe that at least these specific hadith are true, any comments appreciated

    http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnpnoxiDRO4

The Knower of the unseen! so He does not reveal His secrets to any,
Except to him whom He chooses as an apostle; for surely He makes a guard to march before him and after him,

And here is just one hadith I have dug out so far, I am sparing myself the pain of pasting all of them here, but if anyone wants I can paste them. And if this topic has been discussed then my apologies, I'm new to this site.

    BUKHARI
    Volume 001, Book 002, Hadith Number 047.

Narated By Abu Huraira One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" Allah's Apostle replied, 'Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further asked, "What is Islam?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan (perfection)?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you." Then he further asked, "When will the Hour be established?" Allah's Apostle replied, "The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its portents.

    1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master.
    2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah. - REFER TO THIS http//study.grissomhome.com/wordpress/?p=25

The Prophet then recited "Verily, with Allah (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour..." (31. 34) Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him. Then the Prophet said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion." Abu 'Abdullah said He (the Prophet) considered all that as a part of faith.

      Peace,
      Respectfully.

Hadiths should be avoided and with every day, i find one more reason not to trust sunnis nor to take them as Muslims.
      Especially at this link http//www.topix.com/forum/religion/islam

I did make a little progress but it's really very little.

      Peace.

Throw enough darts at a dartboard and you're bound to hit a bullseye.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

No that's not the point. While I obviously have some serious concerns about certain hadiths and they don't seem right at all, the thing which strikes me is that the hadiths concerning the minor signs of judgement day have ALL so far seem to come true - most of them which are discussed in the above youtube video. That just strikes me as amazing.

the propet mohammad(PBUH) does not know the exact date of the destruction of the heavens and the earth(knowledge of the hour) as the quran says...so how does what Allah revealed to Prophet Mohammd (PBUH) contradict quran?

But Rashad Khalifa claimed the exact date?(2174 i think if not correct)now who do you trust? Rashad Khalifa, or prophet Mohammad(PBUH)?

The Knower of the unseen! so He does not reveal His secrets to any,
Except to him whom He chooses as an apostle; for surely He makes a guard to march before him and after him,

wasn't Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) an apostle of Allah?

if majority of people does end up rejecting sunnah of Mohammad(PBUH) then there will be generations after generations where everyone will reject them and all of a sudden when Dajjal comes, nobody will have a clue...since some people who claim to be muslims today are strategically taking people away from both quran and sunnah by legalizing their desires through following parts of the quran and rejecting other clear verses of the quran...

              Allah knows best!

That's what strikes me - to the best of my knowledge, these hadiths have been around for centuries. How could there be a hadith about bedouins competting to build tall buildings when skyscrapers weren't even a concept tilll like the 60's or 70's -

                        Peace

Prophecies have the same opiate effect on the people as conspiracy theories. Anyone can prove them and if you believe in them, it serves no purpose to your life but entertaining your mind. They invoke the same fear and helplessness about something they can't control. People have been having prophecies/revelations about the end of Days throughout time and before Muhammad. 1984 is more insightful to our world than any Hadith. Big Brother is watching you.

Please look up the definition of "assumption" in a dictionary.

Well are there prophecies which turned out to be incorrect? If so please do elaborate.

No need. I am pointing out you are believing something someone tells you without checking anything. I am highlighting the poor methodology.

If you feel predicting buildings will get taller is an impressive "prophecy" that is up to you.

That wasn't the answer to my question. Read the question again. I'll repeat it here for you My question was "are there any prophecies (in the hadith) which turned out to be incorect. If so please elaborate.

So if you have an answer to that, please answer, asking me about nostradamus doesn't help.

Yes there is a need. And I'll tell you why also Coz I am trying to figure out whatever is true, be it from the Quran or from the Hadith. Even if there's one hadith out of 99 which is correct I want to know what it is. So if you know of any prophecies which turned out to be incorrect, do inform.

As for my poor methodology, I did check the bukhari collections, and the hadiths are all there. I did this for each prophecy/hadith. For e.g. for the one about the bedoiuns will compete to build tall buildings, I checked to see if the hadith is actually in an old print edition of bukhari, which it is, and then checked if anybody in the middle east was competing to build tall buildings which they are. If you have a better methodology, I'd like to hear it.

The hadith does not say that the prophecy is that buildings will get taller. Read it again. It says that bedouins will COMPETE to build tall buildings and boast about it. That is exactly what is happening in the middle east right now. I pasted a link to that effect.

                                Re poor methodology

Allow me to clarify. Even though you are checking the specific hadiths they tell you about, which is good, you have no idea if they are only telling you the ones that seem to be correct.
To do this research, all you need to do is locate the hadith volumes that deal with future prophecies and read them. I dont know if such a specific volume(s) exist or if they are spread about.

                                  Peace all,

Here are some end of times hadith

These ahadith are cited in the Six Books of authentic traditions for the most part. They have been collated for the most part from the following two books written in refutation of the Wahhabi heresy a) al-Sayyid al-Alawi ibn Ahmad ibn Hasan ibn Abd Allah ibn Alawi al-Haddad Misbah al-anam wa jala' al-zalam fi radd shubah al-bidi al-Najdi al-lati adalla biha al- `awamm published 1325H.
                                  b) al-Sayyid Ahmad ibn Zayni al-Dahlan (d. 1304/1886). Mufti of Mecca and Shaykh al-Islam in the Hijaz region of the Ottoman state Khulasat al-kalam fi bayan umara' al-balad al-haram (A History of the Wahhabi Fitna in Najd and the Hijaz) p. 234-236.
The Prophet said, Peace be upon him

                                  1. "They transferred the Qur'anic verses meant to refer to unbelievers and made them refer to believers."

                                  2. "What I most fear in my community is a man who interprets verses of the Qur'an out of context."

                                  3. "The confusion comes from there (and he pointed to the East = Najd in present-day Eastern Saudi Arabia)."

                                  4. "A people that recite Qur'an will come out of the East, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through the religion (of Islam) like the arrow passes through its quarry. They will no more come back to the religion than the arrow will come back to its course. Their sign is that they shave (their heads)."

                                  5. "There will be in my Community a dissent and a faction, a people with excellent words and vile deeds. They will read Qur'an, but their faith does not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. They will no more come back to the religion than the arrow will come back to its original course. They are the worst of human beings and the worst of all creation. The one who kills them or is killed by them is blessed. They summon to the book of Allah but they have nothing to do with it. Whoever kills them is closer to Allah than they. Their sign is that they shave (their heads)."

                                  6. "A people will come out at the end of times, immature, foolish and corrupt. They will hold the discourse of the best of creation and recite Qur'an, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. If you find them, kill them, for verily whoever kills them will have his reward from Allah the Day of Judgment."

                                  7. "There will be people in my Community whose mark is that they shave (their heads). They will recite Qur'an, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its target. They are the worst of human beings and the worst of all creation."

                                  8. "The apex of disbelief is towards the East . Pride and arrogance is found among the people of the horse and the camel ."

                                  9. "Harshness and dryness of heart are in the East , and true belief is among the people of Hijaz."

                                  10. "O Allah, bless our Syria and our Yemen!" They said "Ya Rasulallah, and our Najd!" He didn't reply. He blessed Syria and Yemen twice more. They asked him to bless Najd twice more but he didn't reply. The third time he said "There are the earthquakes and the dissensions, and through it will dawn the epoch of shaytan."

                                  11. A version has, "The two epochs of shaytan." Some scholars have said that the dual referred to Musaylima the Arch-liar and to Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab.

                                  12. Some versions continue with the words "And in it is the consuming disease," i.e. death.

                                  13. Some books of history mention the following version in the chapters devoted to the battles against the Banu Hanifa

"At the end of times a man will come out of Musaylima's country and he will change the religion of Islam." Note Most of the Khawarij were from the Najd area, from the tribes of Banu Hanifa, Banu Tamim, and Wa'il. Musaylima was from the Banu Hanifa, and Ibn `Abd al-Wahhab is from Tamim.

13a. Abu Bakr said concerning the Banu Hanifa (the tribe of Musaylima the Liar) "Their valley will not cease to be a valley of dissensions until the end of time, and the religion will never recover from their liars until Judgment Day," and in another version "Woe to al-Yamama without end."

13b. When `Ali killed the Khawarij, someone said "Praise be to Allah Who has brought them down and relieved us from them." Ali replied "Verily, by the One in Whose hand is my soul, some of them are still in the loins of men and they have not been born yet, and the last of them will fight on the side of the Antichrist."

                                  1. "A people that recite the Qur'an will come out of the East, but it will not go past their throats. Every time a generation of them is cut down another one will come until the last one finds itself on the side of the Antichrist."

                                  2. "There will be a huge confusion within my Community. There will not remain one house of the Arabs except that confusion will enter it. Those who die because of it are in the fire. The harm of the tongue in it will be greater than that of the sword."

                                  3. "There will be a dissension (in which people will be) deaf, dumb and blind (this means they will be blind and not see the true issue nor listen to the voice of truth) whoever tries to control it, the dissension will control him."

                                  4. "A shaytan will appear in Najd by whose dissension the Arabian island will quake."

                                  5. On the authority of al-`Abbas "A man will come out of the Wadi Abu Hanifah (whose appearance is) like a bull that lunges against its yoke. There will be much slaughter and killing in his time. They will make the possessions of Muslims lawful for themselves and for trade among themselves. They will make the lives of Muslims lawful for themselves and for boasting among themselves. In that confusion the despised and the lowly will attain positions of power. Their idle desires will keep company with them the way a dog keeps company with its master."

                                  6. On the authority of Abu Said al-Khudri "Verily in the wake of this time of mine comes a people who will recite Qur'an but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. They will kill the Muslims and leave the idolaters alone. If I saw them, verily I would kill them the way the tribe of Aad was killed ."

                                  7. "There will be towards the end of time a people who will say to you what neither you nor your forebears ever heard before. Beware of them lest they misguide you and bring you confusion."

                                  8. "They will pass through Islam like an arrow passes through its quarry. Wherever you meet them, kill them!"

                                  9. "They are the dogs of the people of Hell."

                                  10. "They recite Qur'an and consider it in their favor but it is against them."

                                  11. "There will be thirty dajjals (antichrists) after me, all claiming prophethood."

                                  12. "Some people will be standing and calling at the gates of hell; whoever responds to their call, their will throw him into the Fire. They will be from our own people and will speak our language . Should you live to see them, stick to the main body (jama`a) of the Muslims and their leader. (If there is no main body and no leader,) isolate yourself from all these sects, even if you have to eat from the roots of trees until death overcomes you while you are in that state."

                                  13. "Just before the Hour there will be many liars." Jabir ibn Samurah said "Be on your guard against them."

                                  14. "The Hour will not come until thirty dajjals appear, all of them lying about Allah and His Messenger."

                                  15. "There will be Dajjals and liars among my Community. They will tell you something new, which neither you nor your forefathers have heard. Be on your guard against them and do not let them lead you astray."

                                  16. "The time of the Dajjal will be years of confusion. People will believe a liar, and disbelieve one who tells the truth. People will distrust one who is trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous; and the ruwaybidha will have a say." Someone asked "Who are they?" He said "Those who rebel against Allah and will have a say in general affairs."

                                  17. "If the leadership is entrusted to those unfit for it, expect the Hour."

                                  18. "You will see the barefoot ones, the naked, the destitute, the shepherds and camelherds take pride in building tall structures in abundance."

                                  19. "One of the signs of the change of religion is the affectation of eloquence by the rabble and their betaking to palaces in big cities."

Well see here's the thing Right, so there might be other hadith with incorrect prophecies etc. I have not come across any, but let's just say that there's three other hadiths with incorrect prophecies. That still doesn't change the fact that at least the hadiths discussed in this youtube video - all do exist, and all seem to be fairly correct. In sum, just three examples here

BEDOUINS COMPETING TO BUILD TALL BUILDINGS

Bedouins are competing to build tall buildings, just as the hadith says http//study.grissomhome.com/wordpress/?p=25

                                    MASS KILLING
                                    Volume 9, Book 88, Number 183
                                    Narrated Abu Huraira
The Prophet said, "Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people) afflictions will appear and there will be much 'Al-Harj." They said, "O Allah's Apostle! What is "Al-Harj?" He said, "Killing! Killing!" (See Hadith No. 63, Vol.

Great cities will be ruined and it will be as if they had not existed the day before.(Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman)

Take a look at the 20th century two world wars, a number of smaller wars such as vietnam, korea etc, hiroshima and nagasaki, the current situation in Iraq etc - wars have always existed but thanks to modern technology killing masses is much easier now, and really is happening.

                                    Volume 8, Book 82, Number 800i

Narrated Anas I will narrate to you a narration which nobody will narrate to you after me. I heard that form the Prophet. I heard the Prophet saying, "The Hour sill not be established" or said "From among the portents of the Hour is that the religious knowledge will betaken away (by the death of religious Scholars) and general ignorance (of religion) will appear; and the drinking of alcoholic drinks will be very common, and (open) illegal sexual intercourse will prevail, and men will decrease in number while women will increase so much so that, for fifty women there will only be one man to look after them."

As for the above hadith, that part in bold pretty much describes our current day state of affairs. Homosexuality is illegal sexual intercourse - San Francisco and Sydney are famous for their open day ?Gay Liberation ? celebrations. As for adultery - well you guys ever heard of "cuckold"? That's a concept which exists today to. Nudist colonies , escort agencies, pornography , teenage pregnancies are considered part of the ?modern generation.? for e.g. in India, the process of "weternization" involves incorporating these things into your lifestyle. Furthermore , with each generation , the level and availability of lewdness is increasing ; for example , pornography is available in our homes on TV and the Internet thus affecting the mindset of our children from an early age. Homosexuality is gaining support throughout many parts of the world. Some advocates of the Gay movement are claiming that they are born gay.

The youtube video I pasted initially discussed around 7 minor signs of the day of judgement, and ALL of them seem to be true. This really makes me take the hadith more seriously than before. I'm not saying all hadith are correct, Allah knows best - but I mean how can I ignore these prophecies? How can I ignore the fact that what's happening nowadays has been in these books for centuries that have passed?

There will be in my Community a dissent and a faction, a people with excellent words and vile deeds. They summon to the book of Allah but they have nothing to do with it.

                                      hmm
