Peace be upon you. I am quite new here, but I will still share with you my insights.

Yes, the Qur'an says "Obey Allah and obey the messenger." But interestingly, it does not say "Obey Allah and Obey Muhammad". In fact, his name is only mentioned 4 times in the Qur'an.

And Aaron had already told them before, "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." (2009)

We all know the story of Moses. In this ayah, in the absence of Moses, Aaron says "obey me". Does that mean people have to follow the way he eats, sleep and drink? Does it even make sense to you? Loads of other prophets/messengers said obey me. Not only muhammad. Does that mean We obey their eating, sleeping techniques as well?

And confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me. (350)

Here the prophet of bani israel also tells his people obey him. Means his hadith? His sunnah? NO!

Do you think God sent messengers to teach people how to eat, sleep, drink, pee, etc?

There are doctors, engineers, scientists and many intelligent people in other religions too (like Hinduism). Despite the many contradictions and logical fallacies in their religions, they still follow it. Blindly. They do not question what needs to be questioned. Likewise, in the "Muslim" world, there are doctors, lawyers, etc who SOMEHOW are blindly following the hadiths. They are convinced that these"religious" matters must be left to the Imams and Sheikhs. Some are even scholar-worshippers. These scholars somehow become the intermediaries between them and God. Anyways, the Qur'an says not to follow the majority, as they are in the wrong path.

Allah says, "If you obey the MAJORITY of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of Allah. They follow only conjecture; they only guess." (6116)

Allah says, "So many proofs in the heavens and the earth are given to them, but they pass by them, heedlessly! The MAJORITY of those who believe in Allah do not do so without committing idol worship." (12106)

Al-Baqarah - Allah says, "Is it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party among them throw it aside? Nay! the truth is MOST of them believe not. (Al-Baqarah 2100)

Bukhari, Taymiyyah, Muslim, etc are like Paul, John, etc of today's christianity. They all have inserted things into God's way.

The Quran asks us not to accept anything without verifying it first, no matter how much pious a source it may come from, when it says
"Do not pursue that whereof you have no knowledge. Verily, the hearing and sight, and the heart, each of these will be asked." (1736)

Whereas hadiths say, if you use common sense, youre gonna end up in Hell. Or if you have doubts about the "religion", its from iblees.

Bro, please take a step back, re-examine everything and analyse for yourself. We will help you.

Funnily enough, I never wanted to go to Morocco, let alone live there! To it's credit, there is some beautiful coastline there, and I do love the sea!
I would like to go to Turkey too-that also has some wonderful beaches, and it is so rich in history. I intend to go there at some point in the next two years and spend 4-6 weeks there insh'Allah.

I know what you mean about not being a tourist. I hate it when people do that. My mum is the worst culprit. When we went to Spain she felt the compulsion to have me take a picture of her every two minutes. I might have indulged her photo fetish if it wasn't for the fact we were on a boat surrounded by sea! And even in London, despite having been there a million times before-not only must we have pictures taken at every single monument, but we can't walk down a single inordinate street without the camera coming out.
Being a tourist is boring. I think the best thing to do is absorb the local culture. So, which other places are on your hitlist?

I have got to be honest, looks-wise, Anushka Sharma is not my cup of tea. To be honest, I know most people think she is attractive, and Katrina Kaif too, but I find them a little plain for me. I generally like girls with wild hair, soulful eyes and earthy personalities with a little bit of fire. I don't like skinny girls either. Katrina is beautifully curvy, but her and Anushka seem too nicey nicey, goody goody type of girls for me. I have very strange taste, according to my friends, in men and I suppose, I am just as strange in my taste for women!

welcome aboard! noticed how people who question wanting to know the Truth, somehow come to see the Truth.

i just returned from my trip to India. came to the united states at age 10yo. am now 40 years. i remember as a child questioning and wondering about traditions, practices, rituals, etc. spent the past 20 some years reading/learning. i came to learn the Truth about islam and now see from the outside. wearing a burqa is a big deal back home and i took a stance. not only that but had my hair down. well, you can only imagine how i was looked upon and what was said. i asked show me where in the koran God says to wear a burqa? i asked my relatives what is hadith? that's the problem, people don't know what the koran says or know the history of hadiths.

it brought smiles to my face when my cousin leaned over whispering in my ears to send her english translation of the koran. only way to fight ignorance is with knowledge. at least one person in the crowd heard and wants to know the Truth. well, more than one person did. yay

Oh, I thought "uztaza" meant teacher, but then I thought if you are so fiesty and vehemently against it, how can you be propogating the exact same thing. I recently got offered a job, teaching English at an Islamic school (I did not apply,I was sought out), but I just don't understand how I would be able to separate teaching English from the overall ethos of the school, which is to indoctrinate those kids' heads with crap. I find it even more difficult to see how you would be able to do that in your position. I did think I should take up the position and lead them "astray" with The Truth. Perhaps, I will... > Anyway sister, all the best.

OOps, my bad... i didnt explain properly. I am forced to teach in that madrasah (sunday classes). My mom teaches there too. I told my mom that i am quitting but she didnt let me becos there is a shortage of teachers. I teach toddlers how to read the Quran. I have stopped teaching hadiths and the other "nonsense" stuff. I do not make my students memorise any hadiths. It is only the upper level kids. Haha i pity them. I teach poems, tell storues (from Qur'an) and teach them Akhlaq (character building.) I do not and will not propogate hadiths or sunnah-tunnabi.
