I personally find the outlook of the new website design of Free-Minds.org NOT better than previous. Here are my observations
I remember that one of the very first website had NO human like photo (holding a book in his right hand and wearing trouser and shirt, looking up towards sky) in the front page. I think that was compatible with the purity (devoid of any extravagant graphics, shape, colour, custom, costume) that Islam always upholds. But sadly, that thing is present in new website as well.
The new website, when opened in a web browser, shows a very stupid looking icon (of site developer company, perhaps) in the browser Tab.
I do not agree to show photos of people (for example, Queen Rania or whoever) in the front page of the website. This makes the website look and feel like other ordinary websites. These kind of things decrease the seriousness of the website content.
The main message of the website ("...O people of the Book,..." should have been in full form in the front page like previous website and not with a "Read More" link. This is important for first time site visitors. Moreover the text should have been in traditional Black color font with White color background. The main message could have been presented in a way, where this becomes the centre of focus of the front page.
The photostream size and location are not up-to-the-mark compared with many other websites. The photo contents could have been of higher quality.
