hi brothers and sisters,

Although I have signed up to become a member of this forum just today, I have been aware of this site and the progressive Islam movement since 2004.

I am 34 years old now and I lived most of my life as an atheist due to my rejection of the insanity and aggressiveness of most of the people who represent Islam today whether Sunni or Shia or whatever.

I was born in a Sunni family and my parents who are still practicing Sunni Islam taught me the values of tolerance and acceptance which went contrary to what most of my religion teachers at time were trying to teach me. My interest in Islam has been renewed when I had a brief but deep conversation with my father about Islam and the true meaning of it.. I am willing to discuss and share ideas with like minded individuals.

I live in Sydney and I'd love to catch up with some of you guys who live here to share a spiritual experience here.
