i have not make my conclusion. But i'm contributing these two points
- Many times it is mentioned in the quran that believers should be truthful.
- The example of satan using deception, and examples of disbelievers and hypocrits saying what is not true...
Ahmedbahgat, i remember that msg,..but can someone give us the surah and ayat number concerning that msg?
M_Mehdi, you said "When giving charity it's ok to lie if it's designed not to hurt the person you are giving charity to. Basicly if you are helping someone out and they are too proud to except it, it'd be ok to say, nah.. it's not from me."
I donno about that yet... but i prefer to say "it is from a person you know but s/he wishes you not to know who is it from..."

An interesting question, people do have different points of view and different values and I do believe that
it is impossible not to lie several times every day.
I think your heart always knows if you are deceiving in the name of malice, good faith, vanity or ignorance.
Just take your cue from your conscience and if you feel bad about a particular deception, chances are
you are probably right.
