    Salaam and welcome.

You are from my part of the world. Where in Yorkshire are you from?

    Salaam.

    Salaam,
West Yorkshire, in and around the Bradford area. Wish I could be more precise, but I wish to remain anonymous.
Peace, and look forward to reading yours and others posts.

Salaam, Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I certainly hope to see more of the light of Islam through the Quran, having removed the shackles of the Hadith.

I am currently looking into how historically the Hadith developed into the so called ?second source of law?. Rather worryingly, some of my brethren seem to take them as the ?first source of law? and will defend them quite vigorously.

From my own experience, I would rather now tackle these issues from a historical perspective, rather than a religious one. I have found that when religion is concerned, people can be very dogmatic. I think taking ?religion? out of the equation and then examining the historical facts may actually open some eyes.

Salaam all, First of all FindingTheTruePath is not my real name (you may have guessed) but I wish to remain anonymous. Why? Having to find my own path (as I was never convinced by the explanations given by the Islamic clergy), I began to have serious doubts about the Hadith?. And having doubts about the Hadith from a Salafi background is tantamount to being an apostate.

My honest opinion is, some if not most, of the hadith is not even worth the paper it is written on (if it ever was written on paper in the first place). But I am still of the opinion that there was such a thing as ?sunnah? of the prophet ? that the prophet did not simply deliver the message, but also guided and set an example for people. Unfortunately, the hadith as collected by Bukhari and co has not added anything to preserving that ?sunnah?.

I hope to learn a lot and find the true straight path, inshallah.
