Remember only The God is your Teacher and we're all students helping each other in this life. If you read the stories of each Prophet in the quran you will see that they had greater struggles within them and around them but their patience paid off by holding onto The God/Allah.

You have brought out a very important point, as our consciense often directs us to the right path. The fact that it's easily distracted by culture/traditon or worldy advice is a different matter. So put you faith in Allah and follow your heart. If it means praying like a Sunni while, at the same time, rejecting hadith and upholding the Quranic guidance, so be it so long as it brings you spiritual fullfilment. Any time spent in watching how others behave is unproductive; instead do the soul searching required of us.

1. The feeling of 'confused' is a good sign, it indicates that the brain is at work... and similar to 'muscle', the more you use it, the more it shall be 'trained'..
2. Path... each of us have our own different paths.. no one is truly identical..
3. You can use the Quran (or other) whatever you wish for prayer (or other purposes).

Shirk is a mockery. Just look at some of the pagan religions and their mythology and theology. Their stories about the gods and creation. Just read some of the creation stories.

If youre referring to creation stories from other deities - some of those creation stories are, how can I put it politely, very explicit!

Hello all - I'm not sure what to say - only that I've been reading the forum for quite a while and feel like I'm trapped between two extremes in this world - that of hateful racist small-minded westerners and that of hateful religious small-minded trad muslims - people around and the world itself in general really gets me down - I like this forum because of the attitudes people have make me realise that even though we may be spread apart there are like-minded reasonable people in the world - although after reading a while I think some people here are still as lost as me! (or maybe searching?) I would say I am still quite confused over how to follow the path and how to use the Qur'an for prayer etc and if or not to use the Hadith at all and I've probably been in this state longer than I was practising trad muslim but I have realised life is about the journey and struggle and most importantly our deepest intentions.
