Huruf, I understand that the "1000 months less 50 years" (Noah lived for 33.25 years) makes a lot more sense than "1000 years less 50 years" (Noah lived for 950 years). I was just seeking a justification from almarh0m for their usage of it. I do believe it to be more probable, but I have failed to see the reasoning from the Qur'an itself to support it.
This is why I was asking how (of the root sn nn ww, used as sanat) became 'months', and how (of the root ayn ww mm, used as m) remained 'years'. I was seeking a translation, and the different meanings, of both words, which are blatantly different, yet still translated as either 'year' or the plural 'years'.
