    He's not too keen on hadiths himself either; basically saying that most hadiths, if not all, are fabricated and therefore should be filtered through the Qur'an. He's also an advocate of secularism, seeing no conflict between religion and secularism. The important part is that he bases almost all his ideas on historical Islamic records, books and discourse. Showing that most of what might be considered reformist philosophy today did in fact exist in the annals of Islamic scholastic history.
