Hello, I am a Canadian woman and living in the UK because a British guy stole me and we got married P. I am here to learn about Islam without Hadith.
A little about me, I am mostly from a non-religious background, was baptised out of tradition (and because it's pretty - really mom?). I somehow did believe in some sort of God, Panentheistic and I'm not sure how and why since I wasn't exposed to it. and for a few months was briefly having a look Christianity since I was a curious child. It didn't last long and soon enough I was again in secular moral classes.
I used to be a very angry teen at religious people, not understanding why they believe in God(s) when so much bad happened to me and many other people. Then I started to read about religions to try to understand them. At this point I didn't believe in any religion but dabbled in ideas, liked Buddhism and such. Islam wasn't much on my mind but when I got on Facebook, I saw one of my childhood friend converted to Islam (mainstream).
I was curious on why would a sensible and kind person like her convert to something the media kept talking about in negative light. I searched about it and saw some of it wasn't as "crazy" as it seemed. So for years I wondered what to do, dabbled in many religions and came back and forth when it came to Islam. I didn't realise at that point that Hadith was the cause of my discomfort and tried to do mental gymnastics.
Obviously, that backfires on someone who doesn't do blind faith. And then I went on a religion website, that discusses most, if not all religions you can think of and saw a Quran only section. It made a lot of sense and the person making the threads was making very good arguments... So I decided to have a look at this and maybe I'll find my place in Quran only Islam.
TL;DR I dabbled in lots of religions, mainstream Islam made me feel icky, forums are cool and I found Quran only so giving it a try.
