So I thought u might be able to give me some pointers.

I think I will go for the Yusuf Ali translation, what u think of it?

aah ok! Thank you very much!
Is their any list with the changes I can go through? would be much easier for me, instead of keep reading two versions to protect myself from reading something not accurate. If their isnt I dont even dare to keep reading my version, I found the "mistake" by coincident.

    ???

2158 Inna alssafa waalmarwata min shaAAairi Allahi faman hajja albayta awi iAAtamara fala junaha AAalayhi an yattawwafa bihima waman tatawwaAAa khayran fainna Allaha shakirun AAaleemun

2158 Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah. So if those who visit the House in the Season or at other times, should compass them round, it is no sin in them. And if any one obeyeth his own impulse to good,- be sure that Allah is He Who recogniseth and knoweth.

    from http//www.islamicity.com/MOSQUE/ARABICSCRIPT/AYAT/2/2_158.htm

I did a bit research, and have concluded that it seems like a mistake. I dont under stand how the first line can be translated into Camel Goat and milk etc. thats some major translation difference then..

Can u speak arabic? If so pls try translate it for me, eventhough it might differ from the original, I wanna se how it would come out with the arabic spoken nowadays, I doubt that it would differ so much as it does here.

    As Salamu aleikum,
I dont know if this topic has allready been brought up, but while reading the Quran translations I have at my disposal, I keep wondering when the certain ayah/surah was inspired to prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Would make it bit easier to understand if they where set in a historical perspective.
Anyone got a link about this?

    As salamu aleikum.
I just found something confusing in the version of "The Message" I hold in my hands. It is from 2003.

2158 The Camel and Goat heavy with milk are amongst God's decrees. So whosoever makes Pilgrimage to the sanctuary, or is merely passing through, commits no error that he should partake of them. And whoever donates for goodness, then God is Appreciative, Knowledgeable.

This I have handtyped from my version. I will copy paste the version from the net

2158 The Safa and Marwah are amongst God's symbols. So whosoever makes Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary, or is merely passing through, commits no error that he should traverse within them. And whoever donates for goodness, then God is Appreciative, Knowledgeable.

So, just to keep it plain and simple.. Is their any other mistakes like this in my version that any of u have knowledge of? I rather hold a book in my hand, than reading from a screen

I keep it plain and simple. I just started reading "The Message", I got to 2144, concerning the Focal point, and this translation said "The Restricted Temple", I tried to find out where this temple is. Well, I got very confused and browsed a lot of sites, Including an article from Layth, which confused me more! So I just found the out via using http//www.islamicity.com/MOSQUE/ARABICSCRIPT/AYAT/2/2_144.htm , that "Restricted temple" is Masjid Al Haram, which is in mekka..

So am I right about that the focal point that a muslim should use is Masjid al Haram? Masjid al Haram is being mentioned plenty of times just a few verses later. I would appreciate any help about it, I have used 1 day to figure it out. confused

    As salamu aleikum
