The passage introduces fasting being prescribed unto the believers as it was prescribed to those who came before the revelation of the Qur'an which was "ayyaman ma3doudat". Those who came before fasted "ayyaman ma3doudat". When the Qur'an was revealed the fasting the believers are to do is the month of Ramdhan or in case of sickness or on travel can be done later for the number of days that fast was broken.

Ayat 183 says that fasting has been prescribed to the believers like to those before. No mention of Ramadan.

Ayat 184 tells how who and what to fast. those before had to fast counted days.

Ayat 185 is a new mandate for the believers to fast the month of ramadhan.

This is my current humble understanding.

The Qur'an enjoins those who witness the month of Ramadan to fast in it.

How does one witness a month? When you experience the day breaking and ending for around thirty/29 days. So those who live in the s/northern hemisphere do not witness some months, as the sun never sets or rises and so there is no distinct separation at dawn or towards night. This is a basic requirement for starting and ending fast and as one commentator said ? a common principle that any who suffers from impractibility, the relevant provision of law does not apply to him?

In the qur'an are signs for people who use their god given reasoning faculty.
If one asks how can one witness a month, then this person must continue asking other questions, such as how can one fast a full moon, or how can one fast while at work on the space station. Yet a better thoughtful question, how can believers fast someday while working on the moon itself.

indeed! instead of the count itself, it is the fulfillment of the prophecy in sura 74 about the count being made to be nothing but a fitnat to the disbelievers is what results in the reassurance, the increased faith, and the removal of doubt.

The first verse 11 known as "Basmallah" consists of 19 letters.
The Quran consists of 114 suras, which is 19X6
From the missing Basmalla of Sura 9 to the extra Basmalla of Sura 27, there are precisely 19 Suras
Sura 96, first in the chronological sequence, consists of 19 verses
This first Chronological sura is placed atop the last 19 suras

The total number of verses in the Quran is 6346, or 19X334 (6234 numbered
verses and 112 unnumbered verses (Basmalla). 6234+112=6346. notice also that 6+3+4+6= 19

Why 19?
The word "Wahid" itself, (one) has a numerical value of 19. W=6, A=1, H=8, D= 4. These are a well known values.

Would God sign the chapter that contained/still contains (in some translations) the two false verses???!!

was it also mere coincidence that there was a real tree for adam and his wife to be forbidden from coming near it? it is obvious that a tree must exist before someone can be forbidden from it.
now, can you or any one of the champions of what you call or refer to as "code 19" (a name nowhere to be found in the book the great alqur'an) explain to me what does the statement "and we have not rendered their count to be but a fitnat for those who" mean?

I am extremely surprised and disappointed that I do not get any answer from anyone who has seriously studied "361" (http//www.islamrevolution.org/361mainarticle.htm). There are a number of people who would like to see the debate on 9128-129 and Hafs and Warsh settled for good. I provide you a final solution to a debate that is crucial for the future if Islam in the world, and it seems this thread is falling on deaf ears!

Honnestly I can't believe it. I am really shocked. There are suposed to be some people who are proponent or adversaries, and some people who doubt on the issue. Have you given up this debate will ever be solved!? It is now solved!

I would very much like to have some educated answers to this crucial issue.
Please don't assume that this is just another debate that is going to lead nowhere because it is not.

As verse 7431 states, hypocrites and unappreciative people will not understand the implication of 19 after its prophecy is fulfilled. It is a test, which will distinguish those who choose to progress from those who choose to regress.

Currently, I do not have much time to debate with those who reject the great sign and prophecy... In fact, since last 25 years I have debated it with many people; privately or publicly, on TV or Internet, via articles or books...

I read Bahnam's statements about 1974 and I could not understand exactly what he was trying to say. As for me, I have no doubt that the time of discovery is chosen by God and it is a great prophecy

The prophecy of 19 is in chapter 74 and it was fulfilled in 1974! Some people, in order to blind themselves to this and many other great prophecies, might question the origin of 1974, as some people might question the origin of some Arabic words used in the Quran.... But, the following fact remains If God used an arbitrary human language, the language of mushrik Arabs to deliver his message, then the same God could use an arbitrary but popularly used date to show his power over the timing of his prophetic miracle. Period.

now, isn't you and your group that constantly and repeatedly argue that something is wrong with sura 9 because there is no basmala (per your claim)? it is you, whether you deny it or not. this is also and undeniable fact based on sura 74 which declares very clearly 19 (number itself or counting) to be nothing but a FITNAT for the rejectors/deniers.

and so edip, one can clrarly see who the rejectors of allah's signs are, and those with a disease in their hearts can be well identified.

indeed witnessing such a great prophecy (seeing how the rejectors have been subjected to the FITNAT19) will increase in their faith. praise be to allah for this great prophecy.
