ASA,
I converted in 2008 when I was 27 years old. I began to question things when every time I asked a question or wanted to study with another Muslim they would refer to the Hadiths or Sunnahs and never would mention anything about the Quran. One Muslim told me that I should never read the Quran because there is no way I could ever understand it without a guide. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....I guess I am an educated dummy, perhaps.
I always was uncomfortable with "testifying about Muhammad and Abraham" in my prayers. To me, it was too similar to praying "in Jesus name." I simply stopped praying altogether.
Then I started searching for people who like me was interested in using the Quran as an only source.
I won't even get into the trails with wearing the hijab, being a convert, attending Jumah, being hounded by a particular sect, and a host of other things that has nothing to do with being a good Muslim.
I look forward to meeting people in the forum. I would love to meet other people that live in or around the Atlanta area.
