Hello everyone,
My prayer position is quite different from many brothers. I have a question regarding the prayer position. I don't understand why so many of us pray with their bottom so high up, instead of keeping it down, more modestly. Is it because the latter position may requires maybe a little more effort? The rule is to have feet, knees, hands and forehead to the ground. Therefore it is perfectly correct to put one's limbs to the ground and keep one's bottom on the heels of the feet, "japanese" style. This position is practiced in everyday life in Japan as a polite salute, and also practiced across the world in many martial arts, like Judo, where modesty and precision are very important, to show mutual respect between students and teacher. I find it a bit more considerate if there are people behind. I find that a lot of western new converts naturally do it like this too, keeping their bottom to their heels, probably because of modesty.
Thank you for your answers
