my question to both of you is "what happens in a situation when i have not been ill, or i am not travelling, and i havent been the toilet and neither have i touched anyone sexually, AND i cant find water, then how do i perform wudu?"

Do you consider "tayammum" to be a replacement of "wudu" or "ghusl" or both in a situation where there is no water?

I believe congregational salat is not mandatory. So if you think you are going to harm other people if you go, then you should probably avoid it, when you are sick.

Thank you. Your suggestion is interesting. I assume when you speak of "washing/cleansing" your saying it is something more than "washing hands, face, head and feet" or am i wrong?

However does wash yourself mean only the part that is dirty or wash your whole body?

Because if i have to shower everytime i go to the washroom that will be very hard for people. Specially those who live in cold countries. However if it is ONLY wash the specific part that is dirty then I find it hard to believe that people wouldnt clean themselves after going to the washroom 1400 years ago.

If we are to perform wudu everytime before we stand up for prayers, then there can be no case of nullification of wudu, since we do it just before we stand up to pray. In that case why are the 2 conditions"going to the washroom and sexual contact with a woman" in the ayah below mentioned?

"???? if you are/were ill or travelling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion, or physically contacted the women, and you cannot find water, you shall observe "Tayammum" (dry ablution), by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith." 443

I would really like someone to help me with my question, someone who like me believes that we are supposed to clean ourselves evrytime before we pray.

It can theoretically be translated as "if you are ill" or "if you were ill" (i.e. past tense).

I think the implication is sexually touched the women, not merely touched. If so, are these two things not potentially unhygenic?

Im sorry but i dont understand what you are trying to say. I agree that touching has sexual implications and also that both those actions are unhygenic but my question is that if we are to clean ourselves everytime before we pray then it doesnt matter how unhygenic we are or not because it is to be done before every prayer so then y are these 2 conditions mentioned?

I obviously dont have solid reasonings. But i have 2 ideas

1. If there is no water then we have to perform tayammum only if we are travelling or ill or have gone to the washroom or come in touch with a woman. This reasoning makes no sense to me because it would be a lot harder for a sick person to perform tayammum than an ordinary person. But then again a sick person might be more physically dirty than a someone who is not, same applies for someone who is travelling.
2. The word "junuban" has no definitive meaning. So maybe by stating the last 2 conditions Allah is trying to tell us that anything that is beyond these 2 conditions is what "junuban" means ie anything that makes you more physically dirty than if you have if you have gone to the washroom or come in contact with a woman is being in a state of "junuban". This reasoning makes more sense to me than the previous one. However it depends on what people take to mean by the word "taharrah"...does it mean just wash the dirty area or does it mean wash your whole body? I am unsure about this as well. Also if this is what junuban means then what situation in real life will make me "junuban"? Other than sexual intercourse I cant think of any, but then if its just sexual intercourse then junuban would just mean "dirty state from sexual intercourse", which is what traditionally many people understand t be the meaning of "junuban", and if thats the case then i circle back to the question as to "y these 2 conditions are mentioned"....

As you can see I'm very confused about this.....i have read many articles about this...even articles where people believe that we should make wadhu everytime, but nonone has everI mentioned or answered this question. I would really like someone else's perspective on this...because I have seen that I get stuck into 1 thought process....looking at someone else's point of view helps me gain a new line of thinking wherein then it helps me come to my own conclusions.

Firstly i believe that we are supposed to clean ourselves before we pray everytime. This is the conclusion I have come to. If anyone thinks otheriwse they are welcome to state y...

I can understand y travelling or ill is stated...but what is the purpose of stating the 2 conditions after that....i mean irrespective of whether we have gone to the washroom or physically touched a woman we are supposed to go clean ourselves before we pray....also irrespective of these 2 incidents if we cannot find water then we should do tayammum.

Hello. I'm obviously new here...to be honest I wouldnt call myself a very religious person...but 2 months back i decided to read the quran with its meanings because i wanted to get closer to Allah.....when i started on this journey i learnt of how the hadith has distorted the quran...it shocked me n my beliefs. I was brought up as a sunni muslim...n have always believed that religion should be hard to follow....soo this new possiblity that what i do and follow might be wrong has shaken me greatly. I realised that if i believe and follow hadith ill read the meanings in the quran completely differently from if i dont.....soo i spent a great deal of time....researching hadith....have read almost all articles against it....and loads of which support hadith. And im glad to say that i believe in following the quran only to follow the right path...i havent told anyone that i have decided to forgo hadiths because i have not finished reading the quran yet....i am barely done...when i finish reading it and see that it truly answers all my questions...that is when ill proclaim this proudly soo that i can answer anyone who throws qs against me....i am still farely new here and obviously have a lot of questions and know much less than many people here and i hope everyone here helps me with my journey!
