He only forbids you from making friends with those who fought over faith with you and banished you from your homes,, and aided in your exie. Whoever makes friends with them is a transgressor.

Is that suppose to be friends or protectors? If it is protectors, wouldn't that mean that there is some sort of contradiction??? I'm confused.

Ok. So what I am getting at is that the word used in the Quran when Allah orders women to cover their breast with a "khimar" (well a sister of), DOES refer to headcovering? Thus covering your head is mandatory? Am I right or wrong?

Say for instance I met a man who believed in one God and did not add any partners to him. Just believe in one God and no partners. At the same time though he did not believe in that the Prophet Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, etc were messengers. Is he a mushrik?

Am I correct when I say that Allah NEVER says that Muslims are forbiden to marry non-Muslims?

It is clear that Muslims cannot marry Murshriks..... am I correct when I say that Mushriks are pagans? (not simply those who may not be Muslims or Believers)

There is a verse in the Quran that talks about how when people come down the mountain (during Hajj) we should celebrate Allah's name.... this is where I believe that particular Eid can be justified. But I have not read anything about the Eid that is celebrated at teh end of Ramadan.

Personally, to me.... Muslims who describe themselves as "liberal" (or progressive) are those who want to have thier cake and eat it too. It's like they are "culturally" Muslim rathar than religious. They are interested in the cultural aspect of Muslims (whatever that may be) than actual religious ones. But even this is only a political side, not a religious one. But religiously,many of these "liberals/progressives" do accept hadiths... they as a group do not have thier own religious philosophy though.

Quran Only Muslims (like myself) reject hadiths. Quran Only is not about politics, it's about religion.

One thing that always strikes me as odd with these converstion stories is the use of the word "Allah" and "God".

It's pretty clear that Allah is only the arabic word for God... Christian Arabs use the word "Allah".

So when an "apostate" starts using the word "Allah" to reflect on his life as a Muslim, and then the word "God" as they have become something else.... I find it really silly. So much so that I quesiton the credibility of the stories.

I mean if I suddenly became a Jew, I would be saying "Yea, as a Muslim I believed in Allah but now I believe in God". It makes no sense!

I have come under pressure of practicing something that I feel people have added to the religion. I am READY to "declare war" on my father and stand in faith in my beliefs. I want to denounce this crap in his face. I don't want to practice it!

I can understand the part of "obeying your parents"... BUT what if they are making you practice "religious beliefs" that are untrue? What do you do?

In my response to you I wrote that I never met a woman or heard of one who would use anything on her face for the purpose of "hiding her nose while adding emphasis on the eyes"! Especially when there is nothing not beautiful with their noses. Have you met any woman who does that for that purpose?

Let's remember that this is Arabian culture, not another. It is no myth that Arabs have been known for the covering of their face. Therefore while it may be something taboo in some places, it may very well be another everday accesory in the deserts of Arabia.

Come on, plenty of us have this illusion of sex when it comes to women covering their faces.

there's not a single verse in the quran that mentions 'cover your hair' or 'cover your head' Just whatever it takes so you can look righteous. It's God's mercy that no specific code of dress is there, because different cultures have different meanings of 'righteous'

But it mentions "khimar", and then later goes and mentions "jilbab"... obviously two different articles of clothing with different purposes.

And in the USA there is not dress code for "righteous"

is covering the best way to maintain your chastity(for both men and women)...

i heard that men cover to in soudi arabia according to traditions and it is part of sunnah i have always wondered why the men muslims in other part of the world do not follow this sunnah and women does.

perhaps it is in surah noor(surah 24)

No, that's not true at all. There are PLENTY of hadith rejectors who come from Muslim family backgrounds, like myself. Many hadith rejectors have been Muslims all of their life, studied Islam, read, etc, etc and never could reconcile their belief in hadiths. These are people who have come from MUSLIM homes and have lived a traditional Muslim life for years. They know of plenty of hadiths themselves, and know what rules that you may live by.
