Hi everyone :) -
Hi everyone :)I'm an American woman who found Islam about 9 years ago. I'm here because my personal beliefs no longer fit in with what is considered main stream Islam, and I don't know how to deal with it or how to tell people. I need some guidance.
I was immeidately attracted to it because it seemed simple and clear cut. I prayed faithfully, fasted enthusiastically, and started wearing hijab almost immediately because that's what I thought was expected of me. I learned from sources mostly online, but also by reading books, watching videos, and learning from other Muslims.
Islam for me filled in so many holes in belief that I had as a Christian. I was taught how the Bible was so corrupt and I realized that I couldn't possibly base my beliefs on something obviously not divine. Now I find myself feeling the same way about Hadith.I just don't understand how a religion which is supposed to be complete and easy to understand has become something that some Muslims claim cannot be fully understood, especailly without understanding Arabic or being a scholar.
The Quran claims to be a book fully detailed, yet so many things exist in Hadith that are not even mentioned in Quran. Would God really forget to leave these things out? NO.I know that the majority of you in this forum know all of these things already, or have at least thought about them, or else you wouldn't be here. I just needed to get it out.
I'm really not sure what I believe anymore. I don't really know what to call myself. I don't know what steps to take next, as I am in a sticky situation in a failing marriage living in Saudi Arabia of all places.
Thanks for listening.
