My understanding of the matter is that you can only have sex with spouses and MMA, as the Quran mentions that we should guard our genitalia from anyone except spouses (which can be boy/girlfriends, husbands/wives, concubines, lovers etc.) and MMA.

What I don't understand is how do you think a one night stand is allowed? Do you consider the partner in a one night stand as a spouse?

I noticed that the Quran forbids choosing Polytheists as spouses, while saying nothing about irreligious people. Irreligious people are not Kafir by definition, but Daleen (misguided/lost people), as they weren't given any Hidaya to deny it. Remember that the prophet didn't believe in angels, the hereafter, judgement day, etc. That doesn't mean the prophet was a Kafir, it means he was a Dal as mentioned in the Quran.
