It is also interesting when people (especially newcomers to islam, not those brought up in a Muslim family) have an instinctive/natural negative reaction to the traditional/cultural baggage (i.e. ahadith)... this reminds me that the inner compass of human beings is still hardwired.

I too have a negative reaction to the hadiths. When Muslims refuse to explain how they can pick and choose the hadiths they wish to incorporate into their beliefs, damn Muslims which follow different hadiths to hell, and at the same time refuse to recognize that there are "sects/denominations" within Islam, I become suspicious and scared.

I have been reading this forum for a long time. I decided to register tonight. I've studied Islam for several years. A few months ago I reached the point in which I felt I wanted to convert; however, I found that whenever I asked questions I was attacked by those Muslims which were instructing me. I refuse to place faith in a religion which denies me the right to research and ask questions. I know, I know, I shouldn't judge Islam by the actions of some Muslims. I know this mentality all to well from fellow Christians. It no doubt exists in all religions.

Much of my fear has waned and I'm ready to continue my studies. I chose this forum because the members seem to be independent thinkers and respectful. Also, many of my questions about Islam centered around the hadiths and sunna.

At this point I don't classify myself as a Muslim or a God Alone Muslim. However, I'm looking forward to learning about this concept.
