Hallo and Salam aleikum,
I am German and converted to Islam in 2007. I was looking for guidance and found it in the Qur'an. Since the very beginning I used to interpret most of the things I read in the Qur'an for myself as a natural approach, because thank God I was raised with the mindset of creating my own opinion. However, after some time I got really annoyed by traditionalists who insisted on things which seemed somehow very superficial and senseless to me... Many things, which are not of Quranic origin, are just so superficial and obviously man-made... Also the Hijab has always been an issue for me, I really tried to persuade myself but always felt that there is something wrong about it. Especially the argumentation never made sense to me, as it is clearly not stated in the Qur'an. Just to give one example out of many.
So I did my research and found out how the Ahadith came into existence and I knew I cannot believe in this. I even questioned if I can still be a Muslim, if I don't believe in the Ahadith, because that was the feedback I got from other (Sunni) Muslims.
Still, I consider myself a Muslim even though it often feels that I am quite isolated in my belief. Therefore I am really happy that a forum like this exists to connect people of the same mindset.
Thank God for it. Alhamdulillah, yesterday I doubted my worthiness of being a Muslim and at the same evening I found this forum.
