  • U.S : A FAILED SYSTEM
    T ThaPhenom

    I generally lean towards Libertarian values, however the problem with hardcore Libertarianism/Anarchy is that it does not protect the weak. I believe an unlimited Libertarian system will bring out the worst in human nature, and the combination of evil and power will overwhelm many. I'm all for laws preventing people from infringing on the rights of others, but the problem is people take it too far. As far as I'm concerned, your rights end when they begin to infringe on other individual personal liberties.

    Oh and btw, the US is not a democracy in the purest sense. And there will ALWAYS be winners and losers, we have to recognize this.

  • Democracy... What is the alternative?...
    T ThaPhenom

    A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with a result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence

    From bondage to spiritual faith;
    From spiritual faith to great courage;
    From courage to liberty;
    From liberty to abundance;
    From abundance to selfishness;
    From selfishness to complacency;
    From complacency to apathy;
    From apathy to dependency;
    From dependency back into bondage.

  • Fake Islam Category
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace Khalil,

    I remeber an audio tape of mine about the OJ Simpson case. A lawyer stated that if all it took to lose the case was for a glove to not fit then they never really had a chance. Well if people are drawn away from free-mind's because they feel that it is something 'new/outthere' then we never had a chance either.

    My point was that conceptually speaking, free-minds is much closer to "Traditional Islam" than sunniism/shiism. The whole free-minds position is that sunnis and shias deviated from "tradition" ("True Islam" or how Islam is supposed to be practive) and created a whole new tradition of their own. Perhaps a better name is "False Islam".

  • Fake Islam Category
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace,

    I think 'Fake Islam' is fine. Not to get too much into semantics, but when one categorizes "Fake Islam" as "Traditional Islam," people might think that the concepts Free-Minds is putting forth are new, and untraditional....or even innovations. Just my two cents.

    Peace,

    I completely agree with Damon. But if the admins have decided that albion is going to stay and he/she continues to cut and paste articles and "deface the image of free-minds" as Damon put it, why not just move them to the TRASH section? Isn't that why it was created?

  • Still have a beard?
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace,

    Not that I need to shave very often...maybe once every 2-3 days, but I use both electric and razors (Mach-3 all the way). Razors give a closer shave, but if I'm feeling lazy, I use electric. I also shave my head, and as an African-American, I have to worry about razor bumps! I usually use a single-blade Bump-Fighter razor on my head and that keeps the bumps away...as long as I shave every other day.

  • THE LEFT HANDERS CULT
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace,

    As a left hander, I feel free to use whatever hand I please. Matter of fact, just as Danish said, I use my right hand for many things as well. For example, I throw with my right hand. I used to eat exclusively with my left hand when I was a kid, until my dad (another left-hander) started making me eat with my right hand. So now I hold my fork in my right hand. My dad does the opposite.

    BTW..we lefty's aren't a cult...don't be scared!

    Peace,

    I guess Will Smith didn't have an "open" relationship with his ex-wife. lol

    Pretty tight song, and a nice album from Will Smith though...surprisingly. I still got repect for Big Will as an artist and an actor. As far as his personal life, well I don't know him and I'm not gonna judge him, leave that to God...not surprised though cuz most Hollywood relationships are a dysfunctional. The only surprising thing is they haven't gotten divorced yet. But he already went through one of those. Oh well.

  • MY JOURNEY FROM THE CHRISTIANITY OF SUNNISM TO ISLAM
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace Ali Omar,

    You are right, but that wasn't my point. My point was that the author was attributing these teachings to Christianity, but those teachings aren't really a part of Christianity or Catholicism. Christianity hasn't been practiced that way since the so-called Dark Ages.

  • MY JOURNEY FROM THE CHRISTIANITY OF SUNNISM TO ISLAM
    T ThaPhenom

    This was a good read, but in a way it was also a little inaccurate. The author attributed almost every biblical verse he quoted to Christianity and "Christian" teachings. The verses the author used to compare to the hadith books come mainly from the Old Testament. Except for the 10 Commandments and a few other exceptions, Christians by and large do not follow the Old Testament, they follow the New Testament.

    T ThaPhenom

    Peace,

    Mquran, I think Feshari was trying to focus on Sunnism, not Islam. Actually all organized religions (and sects thereof) display some cult-like behavior...including Sunnism. Some moreso than others.

  • Can You Believe This???!!
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace Damon,

    I'm definitely feeling what you have to say. Just remember not everyone is as strong as you and your wife. Also, not everyone is as good at expressing themselves and getting their point across without looking like a fool. A lot of sunnis have a cult mentality and a lot of times it's hard to break away from that, especially when on many occasions, Sunnis take it so personal that you have a difference of opinion. Personally, I think it will be like that wherever you go. If people choose to remain blind to the message, that's their choice. Like it says in the Quran, God places a seal over their hearts. This movement of going back to God Alone is not going to spread overnight, and it might take generations to get past this grass roots underground thing, just as long as it took for people to get away from God Alone. It's going to take faith, good education, strong wills, and perseverance and a united front for this message to spread. Stay strong, bro. Peace be with you.

  • OT: Which other forums do people here frequent ?
    T ThaPhenom

    I used to go to the Muslimwakeup! forums but it's pretty much died down since Dhulqarnain started a flame war over there last year (i think he's been banned over there too). I actually came to this board through him from that board. Don't know if I would have accepted God Alone if not for that.

    Other than that, if you couldn't tell from my avatar, I'm a huge Miami Hurricanes fan and I browse the Miami forms at Scout.com. I also browse a couple of hip-hop forums of some of my favorite artists.

    T ThaPhenom

    Peace idolfree,

    Let me ask you this, do you "self righteously" seperate yourself from "them" when you are in the food line, and they are ordering Pork and all kinds of food that is not good? Why not join in with them at the food line. Why not join the Homosexuals in thier misguidance to promote unity. Do you see the error in that?

    So I guess you agree with drfazl that celebrations are not allowed in the Quran. Maybe you could show me the verse that says that, especially since we can find the verses on homosexuality and eating the flesh of swine. I thought we weren't supposed to forbid that which God has not forbid.

    T ThaPhenom

    Peace,

    The WOMBS that bore us are our CULTURE that feeds us the visions that grow us, gradually, like the merging of day and night. What vision do we get from the righteous joining the hypocrites and rejectors in celebration of THIER PHILOSOPHY? How does that "grow" us?

    How does self-righteously separating yourself from from others "grow" us? It does nothing to build understanding and acceptance of differences. All that does is make people think you're too good for them.

    General Issues / Questions

  • Mubaarak Eid El Fidtr
    T ThaPhenom

    Peace All,

    The fact is, many of us come from a background where "Eid" is celebrated as a holiday that is only for the "Muslims." roll Many of us have grown up with this, especially in the West as the "Muslim" alternative to Christmas. Maybe that's why it was started in the first place (though I don't have facts to back that up). Now I always grew up thinking that Christmas was such a bad thing, and if you took part in any festivities you were no longer "Muslim" (nevermind that half of my family is Christian). So maybe Eid and other holidays aren't sanctioned by God. So what? Does it really matter if you decide to celebrate or not, so long as you know this. Regardless of how the holiday started, holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, peace and blessings, because although we try, it just isn't like this everyday.
