Why a volcano and not an asteroid?

Simply because the descriptions given are not consistent with asteroids (not even remotely close).. And neither is the actual hard evidence outside scripture. All the evidence clearly points to a volcanic eruption. Even Psalms 18 depicts this very context, and even to the point where GOD is not only the spirit of the volcanic mountain, but the volcanic mountain itself.. When you read the bible in this context, it actually makes coherent sense.. Even revelations to which references back to Exodus makes complete sense to what they are actually inferring to.. This is anthropomorphism and animism of the most powerful eruption human kind has ever witnessed as far we are aware of. To them it would have been the most powerful thing in their era..

You also need to consider that Exodus is written post event, and that could range 1 to a few hundred years.. But it's clear that the event in question is most assuredly in reference to the Thera eruption and the aftermath...

I will have to watch those tomorrow after work. And if you not the references in my articles, evidence includes much of Egypt being buried in ash, and that the Therah eruption would have been visible to the entire Levant region as far east as Israel. Even more interesting is the linked source in the second article in which goes over the time of the Exodus to which would directly be in line with the Eruption of Therah, and it even explains the apposing accounts by the Egyptians and the Evicted Hyksos to whom were likely those mentioned in Exodus and a part of the pre-Israelites. Here the Egyptians saw it as a military victory while those evicted painted it as being led to the promise land.. Both which are depicting the very same event.. It wasn't a god that caused the chaos of the era, it was the Eruption of THera. Yahweh is essentially a volcano god, a god of the mountains... And lets face it, if we lived in that era and witnessed a civilization ending super volcanic eruption more than 1,000 times as powerful as the Mt Saint Helen's eruption, we would probably believed it was GOD... Not even the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan could remotely compare to this event in which shaped the evolution of modern religion. If Thera hadn't erupted, the Abrahamic religions of today wouldn't even exist.

You need to consider this was relatively long ago and I think the population that left was not that enormous maybe only a few hundreds up to a thousand or two. Just a guess but I still think it was not a huge population. The numbers you see in the Bible are likely very exaggerated numbers but yet you see the Earth was pretty scarcely populated compared with today's numbers.

Anyway, the probable reason no one found any trace is because they looked in the wrong location. They likely raced on far east (or turned south as according to Pazuzu), anxious to get as far away from their "prison" as possible. I cannot think they went to today's Israel because it is too close to Egypt, they would risk revenge attacks even if the Egyptians were crippled by a dead Pharaoh, and the Palestinians (Phillistines) would not made it easy or likely for them to settle down. They either went on east or south from there, but no matter what they wandered the deserts of Arabia for some years due to disobedience. They met people (Palestinians I suppose) who worshiped statues/idols, so I think they ignored that place and kept wandering.

There were events with eruptions mentioned in the Bible and some of them were probably triggered by God directly to punish them and you also see real life traces of those eruption events. The Earth opened up and swallowed quite some of Moses' people.

This does not answer the topic of the thread though but might be worth mentioning. It would seem a bit weird if Moses people went to Mount Sinai in Ethiopia when they first crossed the waters and then went up in the mountains of Sinai.

Volcanoes are not triggered by Gods. We know what causes them here in the 21st Century as where they did not.. And if you read the Psalms, the deity is described as both the spirit of the volcano and the volcano itself. Exodus isn't much different. They literally believed the eruption and the volcano was God, and I can't really blame them for it as they are among the rare few who have ever, if ever entirely, witnessed a super volcanic eruption. And if I had saw that myself in that Era, I probably would have believed it to have been god to. Thera exploded with so much force due to sea water getting into the magma chamber, and not because a god made it happen. And it won't be the last super volcanic eruption we will see either. Yellow Stone being probably at the top of the list..

However, it is most likely the Hyksos who lost power in Egypt and who portrayed themselves as slaves rather than the rulers who's reign of power came to an end around 1560 BC. They are the ones that should be looked at in regards to the people who left Egypt.

No I do not believe that the events were fictional. The reason little physical evidence exists is because it was so long ago and also that people have been looking in the wrong location and for the wrong things.

And yet we can find evidence to actual event far less impressive from thousands 30,000 years ago of human activity.. This has been highly investigated in terms of archaeology throughout the region in question, and such a mass exodus of people from Egypt would have lefts a very heavy trail of evidence.. Saying there is so little physical evidence is hugely and understatement. Exodus wasn't complete fictional as it's based on the Thera Eruption, but how the story is told is entirely fictional. And saying they are looking in the wrong locations at this point is just making excuses / Everyone knows by now it's about the Thera Eruption, that is where all the physical evidence points to, and the only people who were evicted were the Hyksos because the Eruption of Thera resulted in the collapse of their reign in Egypt. Those are the people mentioned in Exodus, and it would not have been 100's of thousands of people, a massive chunk of Egypt's population. What likely happened was that these Hyksos wrote the story of Exodus and embellished it to not only be in defiance of those who evicted them as much of the story of Exodus is anti-Egyptian propaganda to which includes the embellishment of slavery. And interestingly enough, the hallmark of the Hyksos is to move to a region and use patron GOD's to create their own by equating them such as they did with seth, Ba'al, and the moon god Sin in Egypt. It's no surprise that we find Yahweh being equated to the moon god sin, the Asiatic god of the Hyksos with the Canaanite deity El Shaddai. The Hyksos may have joined the tribes of the Shasu in their eviction, and in particular the Shasu of YHW. This is all speculation, but not long after the their eviction from Egypt do we find the rise of Yahwism in Canaan along the Shasu enclave.

The closest account in history to match Exodus is the Eviction of the Hyksos shortly after the Thera Eruption. Mount Sinai is most likely in reference or modeled after the Thera eruption to which would have been visible to the entire region of Levant. This includes as far East as Israel. It is the volcanic event in which triggered the collapse of the Bronze Age, and caused the turmoil in Egypt described in Exodus. Just to comment on the first part of the video regarding the flood myth, it's well understood that the region of Levant has been hit by Tsunami's in the Mediterranean. We have to remember that the region is very geologically active, and the Nile Delta flooded often and so did the Red Sea. I think it's not unexpected to find stories constructed around these events just as Exodus is likely constructed around the Thera Eruption in which led to the downfall of the Bronze age and the Eviction of the Hyksos from Egypt. People of this time period however didn't understand these events and thus they became animistic and anthropomorphic. Hence the God's were angry ect. Though we know now what actually causes these events..

Regardless, the topic of Yahweh being a volcano GOD is an interesting one because it's most likely true. And no it's not likely a volcano in Arabia giving Exodus is most likely in reference to the Thera Eruption. Yes the super volcanic eruption in which triggered the collapse of the bronze age.. The revelation of yahweh is mostly the merger of moon and mountain god worship.. Yahweh is one of the sons of EL to whom gets equated with El Shaddai the GOD of Abraham. Abraham to whom came from Ur, a place where the moon god Sin was worshiped. A deity in which Abraham's father and likely his grandfather worshiped. He comes to the city Shaddai and makes the Patron deity his primary deity. El Shaddai is also known as the usurper and attested to his shining mountain. He became a moon mountain GOD as god of the mountains who dwells at Mt Sinai. There is a ton of evidence supporting this..
