Salamun Alaikum
If I am understanding brother Mazhar's highly technical post he is saying the above verse implies.. for every deceased person Allah has assigned specific heirs. My understanding is slightly different. I am reading.. for everyone's benefit Allah has assigned certain heirs to what is left by parents, family members and spouses.
Brother Mazhar's reading implies that there will never be an unmarried orphan siblingless person or such a case is beyond the scope of this statement. I find this understanding problematic.
But of course it is up to everyone to seek and understand the "best" meaning from the scripture.
May Allah guide us all to the straigh route.

Arman
LeKullin It is with respect to every deceased person. Heirs are only for a deceased.
