why "only Quran"? -
Hi there :)@posters
Thank you all.
I have to be completely honest now, i'm a newbie at religion in general. Never was a prope practicing Muslim in the first place so be prepared for harassment P
I'm mostly on my blackberry so I'd like to apologise for multiple posts (the blackberry browser doesn not support scrolling in text fields for some reason S)
I was thinking about studying the Tafsirs written on the Quran. Would that be okay from a Quran only point of view? It's a commentary right? -
An Ahlul Sunnah's Challenge to Quran alone : kitaballah wa sunnati !Also, there's a game called telephone. It's a childrens game like tag. It's also called Chinese whisper (i'm sorry if I offended anyone) but I think it easily states the obvious regarding the hadith. An hour of this game can yield some pretty interesting results and get's the old brain cells working on the hadith wiki for more details

An Ahlul Sunnah's Challenge to Quran alone : kitaballah wa sunnati !Just my opinion.
If i'm not mistaken, the hadiths were sayings of the prophet and that they were recorded by following a chain of oral narration.By saying that the sahaba present with the prophet could not make a mistake indirectly points states they were above humanity and somewhat divine. They were human beings who had the honour of being present at the birth of Islam and they died like everyone else did. If the hadiths are meant to be made a part of Islam than followers would have to accept the prophet was a paedophile and ordered the rape of pows. These so called hadiths are in direct violation of the Quran. The word of God is the only word meant understanding. By going for the hadith, muslims insult the prophet and decline him the dignity he deserves. He's been called a paedophile, a rapist, some sort of perverted porn star and indirectly divine. People should let the poor man be. He's done his job. -
why "only Quran"?I'm starting this thread to understand why so many people are adopting Only Quran. I have to be completely honest but Only Quran is relatively unknown and I stumbled across it.
Where does "only Quran" stand? Are we what was at the birth of Islam or are we a movement that has grown due to the lack of fulfilment offered by mainstream Islam.
Would be extremely useful if people posted religious affiliations. This may help more people stumbling across this forum more curious as to why we do what we do.Religious Affiliations Sunnism

When it came to religion, everyone has to ask "why?". It's a part of the human psyche to question things on a level beyond our comprehension.
Religion is there to fill the gaps and satisfy that need.
Growing up, reciting the Quran was considered paramount but understanding was something not to be dabbled in. Whenever I did pose any questions, I would be rebuked and told to go on reading and that I was not smart enough to comprehend it's meaning.
From what little I did understand, I found the book as extremely peaceful and soothing.
The hadiths, on the other hand, were like a poison.
Most of my family isn't really religious except for one.
He would go about bashing people with hadiths and a holier than thou attitude. He would use this condescending tone when it came to religion. His attitude was disgusting at best. What i still find frightening to this day was how he celebrated 9-11 and declared it a great victory for Islam (the only time i've ever physically assaulted a person). After that incident, I stopped believing in my faith. For about 9 years, I believed that if god ever existed, he had failed humanity.
Fast forward to may 20th 2010.
The facebook page was a massacre of sorts. I felt an extreme disgust for the Muslims posting holocaust jokes. I hated how the Muslims came across as ignorant and unwillling discuss. Most would resort to threat of sodomy.
On the other hand, hadiths were being launched from both sides. I kept reading hadith upon hadith of perversion. At this point, I was completely disillusioned with Islam, not because of the insulting hadith but because of the ignorance of my fellow muslims.
During this crises of faith, I received a revelation. An atheist friend goes "there is no better hadith than the Quran why don't you follow it for a change?". I guess this was one of those born again moments but I felt it was more of a blessing from above )
Studying the Quran brought me a little closer to myself and made me understand that god doesn't really care whether I pray or not, he only wants me to become a better person.Well this is my experience, I would love to hear from other people )

Hi there :)Hello there.
I didn't see any sort of introduction section so thought guess making a thread would be okay.
For starters, it's amazing knowing that there are like minded people out there = D feels like I can finally come out and talk about my religion quthout getting slapped in the face with a hadith and being asked to conform to it.
As my forum name suggests, wandering spiritually is something I've been doing for a longtime. " Holier than thou" and "drinking from a well than building a wall around it" attitudes have always put me off my own religion. Being banished to hell for my profession (I build and fix guitars) was another.
So hi and yes i'm going to bother you loads with questions and topics =PP.S
I came across submission.org and was just wondering what people thought about it? I found the translations a bit iffy, especially the one on the title page.
