I sincerely apologize if I did come say anything disrespectful, or using words wrongly, I've been hopping back and forth at the computer when I've been writing and haven't really been proofing everything I type. I'm still new, and by no means even a beginner on the path it seems. There's so much...even 50 years from now I'll maybe consider myself moderately intellectual in the subject. There's so much seen and unseen, the Qur'an is a text one can learn to recite verse by verse by heart but even then there's so much more one doesn't know.

May Allah guide me on my path, and keep me from straying away from what it is He desires of me.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. D

Thanks, I didn't know how an opinion like that would be accepted, for it's something I've really came to conclusion from my own studies and intellect. I believe when it comes to know what's right or wrong God will let us know if we ask for His guidance. Finding a hadith saying whether or not it is so I think is sort of taking the easy way out. Just a personal opinion on the matter.

    Greetings everyone!

I reside in a small town in West Virginia, I just recently reverted to Islam a few weeks ago. I read the Qur'an in its entirely several years ago and since then it's been an object I've always held with respect and reverence. My past few weeks I've been adhering to the Qur'an as a guide for life and to a much lesser extent the Hadiths. I have known of Quranism as some may call it before I made my decision. Although I do believe (some) adherence to the hadiths can do no harm in practice in Islam, I believe what they have done is help create an Islamic culture that is less God and more human. I believe it's sort of similar to what Christians have done to Jesus. What is haraam and halal? GOD alone can determine that, but it seems a lot of the dos and do nots in Islam come from the sayings of the Prophet (I give no disrespect to him, please do not think I am). I have an interesting take on this. Although some sayings of the Prophet were culturally sensitive at the time and shouldn't really be took into account of modern life (like not wearing pants that go past the ankles), couldn't some of these just be personal opinion taken out of context by the Prophets predecessors? For example, I'll just say I'm a prophet (PLEASE do not take offense to this, only using an example), I don't like pickles (I really don't), and I utter "Pickles are a scourge of the man, an invention of satans." in a relatively lighthearted context, expressing my dislike for such an object. Fast forward 500 years, people wouldn't know i was just being lighthearted, but would read it and would abstain from pickles because it is perceived I said this in an authoritative tone given my entitlement as a prophet. My title of prophet means (to them) all my speech and thoughts are somehow divinely inspired, but it says in the Quran Muhammad was only human. He had likes, dislikes, preferences, etc. like any other human I would say. Sorry for my first post rant, I have no Muslim friends or family and even if so they may (or may not) shun me for my beliefs. So I give peace and blessings to everyone, and hope somehow I can help contribute my ideas and thoughts to the forum which will better help others in their search to know God and God alone. If I'm getting anything wrong, please by all means tell me.

    -Wesley
