I'm trying to find out about 'oaths''

One person has tried to discredit Islam publicly by quoting sura 662 which talks about cancellation of oaths in book reviews on Amazon. I want to correct it with another review if possible.

I found 612-3 which talk about keeping knees word.

I don't want to give a lengthy reply but preferably an authoritative reply from the Quran itself.

I'm here to learn from everyone so I would much appreciate your suggestions.

My name's David, I live in Australia and I'm a Baha'i.

I want all humanity to live in peace and work for unity between all religions, cultures, societies, groups, nationalities, classes and races.

I consider EVERY person to be my family as we are all fellow human beings. I believe there is only One God and I accept all the Prophets and uphold and defend the Quran and Prophet Muhammad wherever and whenever I see people ignorantly misrepresenting the beliefs of my Muslim brothers.

I stand up for Muslims also but not violence committed in Islam's name.

I'm not interested in converting or changing anyone.

My purpose in coming here is to LEARN and and hopefully be accepted as a fellow human and that even though we have different beliefs we religious people must show humanity a united front that religion can bring peace or humanity will ditch religion altogether.

As I try and defend the Quran and Muhammad I've had to buy an awful lot of different Englsish translations to be able to show that because of loss of translation the west misunderstands Islam. For instance Muhammad never said not to be friends with Chrisitians but western translations say that yet allies is what is meant. So I just want to be a 'bridge' linking east and west and create understanding and friendship,by addressing misconceptions so it's a huge learning experience for me.

I believe if we all show friendliness to each other then we can show God and religion in a good light and that people one day will turn back to God or Allah.
