Okay, all I saw mentioned on there was you saying the Quran speaks of keeping the Sabbath, but not how to keep it as some kind of objection against Quran. (Or am I misunderstanding you?)

The Quran doesn't say if Muslims must or must not keep the Sabbath, but it does say we as Muslims believe in what was revealed before Quran (Torah, etc.), so I would think this not only suggests we keep Shabbat, but also says we can consult the Torah on how to keep it.

Sabbath was part Prophet Moses's era. Not now - not during the era of Prophet Muhammad. If we were meant to keep it - it would have been prescribed. It isn't.

Where does the Quran ever say not to keep it? In Surah 2 in addressing the Jews it never tells them to stop keeping what the Torah made incumbent on them, but to recognize this revelation confirms it, and even reminds them of God's punishment for transgressing the Shabbat

I was hoping this thread could be about Muslims keeping Shabbat, and not a debate on rather its incumbent or not. If it is, I can only figure so far that we have Quran's instructions that its permissible to consult the Torah about it.

To which I disagree. There are 5 prayers mentioned in the Quran.

Thank you friend for your assistance. I was looking at that, and someone pointed out Quran 2458 & 11114, which both only mention 3 times, so how would anyone conclude five?

Maybe you can clear it up for me.

I noticed there was a thread where it was being debated if Muslims should keep Shabbat or not, but I'm hoping this thread can be more about exactly how a Muslim would keep it.

Because I agree a case can be made that it is part of Prophet Moses's revelation, and the Quran agrees it is, and also says people were punished for transgressing it.

The question is how would a Muslim keep the Shabbat- by not working on it? By lighting the Shabbat candles, and other customs? I'm wondering if some of the sabbath keepers wouldn't mind sharing their observance of it.

I am very new to following the path, and I know we're told to do Salat in the Quran, but what exactly does the Quran say about it? Should I just keep praying in my own way, or does it involve bowing and reciting suras?

Also I've seen differing opinions about praying three or five times. I would appreciate any pointers you guys can give me on what light Quran sheds on the subject.

I was on this board awhile ago under a user name I've since forgotten, so I can't log in with it, but this board really changed the way I viewed Islam and the Quran. I once truly believed Islam must be extreme and anti-western, but now I know it isn't.

I've struggled against it for a long time and tried to find any reason I could not to, but I'm embracing Quran-based Islam.

It is going to be a big step for me, but I'm stepping forward in belief, trusting in good things for me.

And now may God hear as I do this. I don't claim to know everything, but I'm stepping forward in faith God knows what I do, and I also ask for your prayers, support, and fellowship. I will be on frequently now. May this be my profession of Islam

I confess there is no god besides, and none worthy of worship except Allah. I confess that Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, and all messengers are the messengers and apostles of God. I take Monotheism as my religion. I profess the Quran as my guide, and pray for God's help in understanding it and furthering my understanding of the Bible as well, since I was raised with it.
