The quran lays a great emphasis on good deeds also known as amal salih in arabic. Does amal salih mean praying, giving charity, fasting etc or as I understand, it means doing good actions like helping the blind cross the road, helping the illeterate to read, giving a ride to the child to school who has missed his bus and has missed his exam etc? I would like to know if it is permissible to ask allah something in the name of or for the sake of someone special or dignified in the presence of allah.

For example Allah please pass me in my exams for the sake of your prophet Muhammad (SAW) or allah please cure some illness for the sake of some respected muslim saint.

I am searching an answer to one question since the past 2 yrs but no one has replied me and I have not found any information in websites. I would lke to know about war prisioners. Who are they? Are they only the people who have actively fought in the war and as a consequence been taken as prisioners or also civilians whose clan has fought a war are taken as prisioners? This question has really bothered me a lot and even caused me to loose my faith, but I could not live wthout my faith and Allah wished so I began believeing again alhamdulillah. But still this question botheres me a lot. Please kindly answer me if you know any nformation for sure. Thanking you all
