Salaam, the Christians have implanted many corruptions into the minds of Muslims, changing the concepts of Islam for the concepts of Christianity, two of these are heaven and hell. I have written a view, open to further investigations, on these two concepts, if you'd like to read them and discuss these ideas, to expand our thoughts, and better understand reality. The first one is Paradise or heaven http//servantofthelight.com/content/view/31/57/ The second one is Hell http//servantofthelight.com/content/view/29/54/

Al-Qari?a (Historically The severe Calamity) Surah 101 1 The severe calamity is weakness of duty, an impotence of thought and ignorance; and magnifying oneself in words without actions, and killing with grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion. Surah 101 2 Don?t be like, ones in severe calamity due to weakness of duty, impotence of thought and ignorance; and magnifying oneself in words without actions and killing with grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion. Surah 101 3 And what grievous calamity befell you despite knowing, that you do show off and indulge in hypocrisy; and so become like, one in severe calamity due to weakness of duty, impotence of mind and ignorance; and magnifying oneself in words without actions, and killing with grief and rage. Resulting in impugned character and making others feel intense aversion, disgust, and revulsion. Surah 101 4 How many of the created ones want to remain to be weak or incapacitated, in contrast to moths drawn down freely one after another into the lighted wick (illumination); (those drawn to the illumination)being the ones spreading, publishing and revealing events and knowledge. Surah 101 5 And to be what they were originated and brought into existence for or else to become weak, incapacitated and smitten with the disease of corruption; separated like wool and having fear of everything. Surah 101 6 The very first creation, which was endowed with reason and logic and was graced, honoured, as the One?s pride. How difficult and troublesome these personal duties became for them. Surah 101 7 Heedless and neglectful, so not in a state of living which is pleasant and approved Surah 101 8 And as far as ones endowed with reason and logic who are able to think quickly and intelligently, to break this state of living; will be graced, honoured and will become the pride of the One. Surah 101 9 Because of which, this is ultimately a sufficient state. Surah 101 10 And what grievous calamity befell you in spite of you knowing that you do show off and indulge in hypocrisy, and hence you do not want to be in this ultimately sufficient sate. Surah 101 11 That state is, to be in a beautiful light, from your protector and defender, of the intense degree. Abdun Nur http//servantofthe light.com/ content/view/ 95/126/ Badar

Peace, Respectfully. A guy a know and me, have been discussing this verse 1644 With proofs and the scriptures. And We sent down to you the Reminder to reveal to the people what was sent to them, and perhaps they will think. And he keeps telling me that God has given The Quran to messenger/prophet Muhanmmad to explain it to people and that this explanation is the sunna/hadith books. My question here is this how do you say explain in Arabic and how do you say reveal in Arabic? Thank you and God bless you. Peace.

salam, 560 from the free minds quran says this 560 Say ?Shall I inform you of worse than this as a punishment from God? Those whom God cursed and became angry at them, and He made from them apes and pigs and servants of evil. Those have a worse place and are more astray from the right path.? what does this verse mean? i have read other translations and the one from Quran as it explain itself says this 560 Say, ?Shall I point out to you something much worse for retribution with God? Worse is the case of those whom God has rejected, and His requital hits them. And remember those whom God?s law relegated from the honorable stature of humanity and they started behaving like apes and swine. And they fell into becoming the slaves of Taaghoot (tyrants and the priesthood of any religion). Such are in worse plight, and farther astray than the mockers.?

Just another example, how change of language over time can change understanding. 1061 Let it be not unknown amongst you, that in order to acquire knowledge of conditions and properties of things; investigate the mechanisms and principles of being, of all things. 1062 Having not understood the above; you will be unable to become people of great learning and knowledge, so pointless to seek out, for the sake of learning and knowledge. 1063 Hence do not break your mindfulness and submission to principles of one rearing, fostering and nourishing; as this will result in a state of being separated, disunited, scattered and unable to sustain your abode in adverse times. This is being made evident and clear to you. 1064 Verily, such are the ones, desirous and intending to be among those, who are safe and secure and tranquil in heart and mind from all fears. Salaam Please read and consider this argument, then provide some insights please. That which has been Revealed to us Written by brother Abu Khaliyl Allaah (T) said (what means) ?Say ?We believe in Allaah, and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibraaheem, Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, and the Tribes, and what was given to Moosaa, and ?Eesaa, and the prophets from their Lord. We do not separate between anyone of them, and we are Muslims (submitting to Him)?.? (Aal ?Imraan 384) How often have we heard this aayah quoted to show that Muslims believe in all of the prophets? Let us look at it in connection with the aayah that directly follows it (what means) ?And whoever pursues other than Islaam for his religion, then it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.? (Aal ?Imraan 385) Let us examine the obvious statements put forward it this passage of the Qur?aan Allaah has addressed a group of people, commanding them to ?Say? something. These people are the Muslims as is clear from the end of the passage. He (T) has clarified that the statement in question is a matter of faith, starting with, ??We believe in Allaah?? The following part of the statement, ??and in what has been revealed to us?? must be properly understood. Some people mistakenly limit ?what has been revealed? to the Qur?aan alone. However, as we shall see, the remainder of the passage in question does not allow that interpretation. ??And what was revealed to Ibraaheem?? that is, we believe in it too. There is no problem here, for Allaah has referred to ??The Suhuf of Ibraaheem?? (al-A?laa 871 and it is easy for everyone to believe that Allaah revealed a Book to him (S). ??And Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, and the Tribes.? Here is where the problem occurs. If ??and in what has been revealed to us?? refers to the Qur?aan only, then what are the names of the Books that Allaah revealed to ??Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, and the Tribes.? ? ?? And what was given to Moosaa, and ?Eesaa, and the prophets from their Lord?? Here again why did Allaah use the term prophets, if it refers only to those who have already been mentioned? ??We do not separate between anyone of them, and we are Muslims (submitting to Him)?.? We do not separate between what? ??what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibraaheem, Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, and the Tribes, and what was given to Moosaa, and ?Eesaa, and the prophets from their Lord?? (Aal ?Imraan 384) Does this mean only that we acknowledge that they existed? No! As we see at the beginning of the statement, we must believe in Allaah, what has been revealed to us, and what has been revealed to all of the Prophets, whether that is a Book, or anything else that Allaah revealed to them. What Did Allaah Reveal to Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, the Tribes, and the Prophets? Let us look at what Nooh (S) said to his people before Allaah destroyed them ?I have conveyed to you the Message of my Lord?? (Al-A?raaf 762) And the saying of Prophet Hood (S) to his people before Allaah destroyed them ?I have conveyed to you the Message of my Lord?? (Al-A?raaf 76 And look at the claim of the followers of the Prophet Saalih (S) ??We do indeed believe in that with which he (Saalih) has been sent.? (Al-A?raaf 775) When he left his people, before Allaah destroyed them, Saalih told them ?O my people, I did indeed convey to you the Message for which I was sent by my Lord, I gave you good counsel, but you do not like good counsellors!? (Al-A?raaf 779) But what Books did these prophets receive? What were the names of the Books that their peoples were destroyed for rejecting? In each case mentioned, the prophets are telling their people that they have conveyed the Message of Allaah to them and advised them. Even though Allaah did not reveal specific books to these prophets, yet He commanded them to convey His revelation to them; and their rejection and disobedience to the commands of Allaah?s messengers was the very reason for their destruction. Also, Allaah said ?That was Our proof that We gave to Ibraaheem against his people. We raise whom We will by degrees, for your Lord is Wise, Knowing. We gave him Ishaaq, and Ya?qoob ? all We guided. And before him, We guided Nooh, and among his offspring Daawood, Sulaymaan, Ayyoob, Yoosuf, Moosaa and Haaroon; in this way We reward the doers of good. And Zakariyyaa, Yahyaa, ?Eesaa, and Ilyaas ? all were among the righteous. And Ismaa?eel, il-Yasa?, Yoonus and Loot, and We favored all of them above all men and jinn. And among their fathers, families and brothers, We chose them and guided them to the straight path. This is Allaah?s guidance, He gives it to whomever He wills among His servants. If they were to join partners with Him, all that they did would be in vain. These were the men to whom We gave the Book, the Hukm (judgement), and Prophethood?? (Al-An?aam 683-89) Allaah mentions 19 prophets here, then He says ?These were the men to whom We gave the Book, the Hukm (judgement), and Prophethood? Look also at the covenant that Allaah took with these prophets ?Based on what I have given you from the Book and the Wisdom (Hikmah), when a Messenger will come to you confirming what is with you, you must believe in him and render him help?? (Aal ?Imraan 381) And look at the prayer of Ibraaheem and Ishaaq ?Our Lord! send among them a messenger of their own, reciting Your signs to them, and instructing them in the Book and the Wisdom?? (Al-Baqarah 2129) And look at what Allaah said to the people during the time of Muhammad (S) ?We have sent among you a Messenger of your own, reciting Our signs to you, purifying you, and teaching you the Book and the Wisdom, and that which you did not know. Then remember Me ? I will remember you. Be grateful to Me ? and do not disbelieve.? (Al-Baqarah 2151) Here Allaah has told us to be grateful for what He has revealed to us! That is the Book and the Wisdom, and that is the Qur?aan and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (S)! Now if we review the aayah above ?Say ?We believe in Allaah, in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Ibraaheem, Ismaa?eel, Ishaaq, Ya?qoob, and the Tribes, and what was given to Moosaa, ?Eesaa, and the prophets from their Lord. We do not separate between anyone of them, and we are Muslims (submitting to Him)?.? (Aal ?Imraan 384) We can now see that We are commanded to declare our faith in what has been revealed to us, and that is the Qur?aan and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (S). Likewise, we have been commanded to believe in all of the revelation given to each prophet before Muhammad (S), whether that was from the Book, the Wisdom, or any miracles. Furthermore, not only did Allaah command us to ?Say? we believe in the above, but He (T) followed that by saying ?And whoever pursues other than Islaam for his religion, then it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.? (Aal ?Imraan 385) Thus He (T) is indicating that these beliefs are part of the religion of Islaam, and are required for one to be a Muslim. This is why the verdict of disbelief is passed upon those who deny the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah, like Rashad Khalifa, and others who claim that all of the religion is found in the Qur?aan alone. Clearly these aayaat of the Qur?aan prove the error of such falsehood. Let all who deny the Sunnah of the Messenger, whom Allaah sent to them, reflect upon the fate described in the Qur?aan for the peoples who also denied what their messengers delivered. Indeed, even without a Book, the messenger must be obeyed; otherwise the people are destroyed. In this light there should be less speculation as to why the Muslims are in such a poor condition as they are.

http//ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51YR6zuRa9L.SL500_AA240.jpg I have ordered this promising book, which discusses a very important topic; the influence of the Qur'an on the creation of the modern free and tolerant world. Nowadays it is thought that the Qur'an represents the total opposite of the free world stands for, but this was not the idea of early Enlightenment thinkers. The contribution of the Islamic culture and the Qur'an for the creation of the Renaissance, Enlightenment and today's modern free world, is enormous. But sadly due to the economical and intellectual decline in the Muslim world after 1500 caused by bad leadership, which caused a wrong direction of Muslim interpretation and thought, and the non-acknowledgement of Western thought of their debt ot Islam; the idea of Islam being the source of the modern world is a strange idea. But modern academics are starting to acknowledge the contribution of the Islamic intellectual heritage to modern science, law, philosophy and politics. Ibn Rushd (Averroes), the great Muslim philosopher and judge from Andalus, is considered the founding father of secular thought1. Voltaire, the important Enlightenment writer and philosopher who was a staunch advocate of freedom of religion and thought and who influenced the American and French revolution, said Muhammad was the founder of "a wise, severe, chaste, and humane religion" and he admired the Qur'an2. Arnold Toynbee, a famous historian called Mohammad one of the greatest benefactors to mankind due to Islam's high religious tolerance and the complete abscence of racism. Because of this he said Islam still has an important role to fulfill in contributing to tolerance and peace among mankind3. Although the Muslim contribution to science is almost common knowledge now among academics, the contribution of Islam on Humanism and Freedom are still are relatively unknown or ignored, while Islam has greatly influenced it as in Fouad Khatib's words "Those who study the Quran for the first time might also reflect on the positive influence that Islam's holy text has had on Western civilization. The Quran has the unique distinction of causing an ancient Semitic language, Arabic, to thrive as the language of learning for the better part of a millennium. While most ancient languages have either perished or been confined to the hallways of academia, Arabic continues to be a living language in more than two dozen countries. Arabic also formed the linguistic cornerstone of one of the greatest civilizations mankind has experienced. The Quran and the example of the Prophet Muhammad, which gave Muslims a complete code of life, stimulated a belief in the importance of learning and inspired Arab-Muslim civilization to direct its creative energies into literary and scientific pursuits. Muslim science, mathematics, literature and medicine became the best in the world. To understand how the Quran influenced civilizations, one should study the evolution of the Renaissance, the great revival of learning in 14th century Europe that had its origins in the interactions between the "Christian" West and the lands of Islam. For centuries preceding the Renaissance, Islamic Spain offered fertile intellectual ground from which sprang an enormous wealth of knowledge. The famous libraries of Baghdad preserved in Arabic translations great Latin works of literature that were banned by the Church. Muslim Spain preserved the intellectual content of the Greco-Roman civilization that was later rediscovered by the West. This vast knowledge base became the springboard for the Renaissance. The genesis of the Renaissance lies in the translation into Latin of books in all branches of knowledge then extant in the Arabic language. Some precepts of law familiar to us today were also inspired by the Quranic code. Its influence on the international law is characterized by strict limitations on warfare, prohibition of harming of civilians or destruction of trees and crops, and adherence to treaties. Distinguishing criminal intent from criminal action was first advanced by Islamic law. Consequently, children and the insane could not be prosecuted as they were deemed incapable of harboring criminal intent. The Magna Carta and English common law were also influenced by the Quranic code. Pope Sylvester II graduated from a Spanish university with a degree in Islamic Law. He went on to translate Islamic legal texts into Latin and called it the "New Roman Law." This code became the basis for the French legal system as well as that of Louisiana. On the social and civic front, a profound contribution of the Quranic code was the explicit banning of racism, which provided a practical framework for thriving multi-ethnic and multi-religious societies exemplified by the peaceful coexistence of different peoples in Muslim Spain. In the 8th century Iraq, entire schools of grammarians in Baghdad, Basra and Kufa minutely scrutinized the Quran in an effort to elucidate its meanings. This led to the formal scrutiny of the Arabic language itself. Some significant outcomes of this intense linguistic exploration were the development of lexicography, rules of grammar and cryptology. Only a serious study of the Quran and its influence on history can help one truly understand why more than a billion human beings revere this book as their revealed scripture. Polemics and hostile rhetoric, apart from being distasteful, do little to further understanding or mutual respect."4 But "The Enlightenment Qur'an" is a book which can change this ignorance. When the West finally realizes that modern society is a product partially based on the Qur'an, and the Muslims reform their approach to the Qur'an, then the world can finally benefit again from this Guidance, and we can all develop a peaceful pluralistic world society as intended by the Qur'an. The review and description shows my hopes for this book are right Review "Insightful, convincing and eloquent. Readers will gain a new appreciation of the complex background to our current intellectual and political reality." --Andrew Rippin, Professor of History at University of Victoria, Canada "Erudite, subtle and profound. Stylishly written and a pleasure to read." --Robert Irwin, Author of 'For Lust of Knowing The Orientalists and Their Enemies' "Exquisitely persuades and provokes. Beautifully written and marvelously learned." --Thomas Burman, Associate Professor of History, University of Tennessee Product Description Iconoclastic and fiercely rational, the European Enlightenment witnessed the birth of modern Western society and thought. Reason was sacrosanct and for the first time, religious belief and institutions were open to widespread criticism. In this groundbreaking book, Ziad Elmarsafy challenges this accepted wisdom to argue that religion was still hugely influential in the era. But the religion in question wasn't Christianity - it was Islam. Charting the history of Qur'anic translations in Europe during the 18th and early 19th Centuries, Elmarsafy shows that a number of key enlightenment figures - including Voltaire, Rousseau, Goethe, and Napoleon - drew both inspiration and ideas from the Qur'an. Controversially placing Islam at the heart of the European Enlightenment, this lucid and well argued work is a valuable window into the interaction of East and West during this pivotal epoch in human history. EDIT It should say "Considering (53)..." (53) Prohibited for you are animals that die of themselves, blood, the meat of pigs, and animals dedicated to other than GOD. (Animals that die of them- selves include those ) strangled, struck with an object, fallen from a height, gored, attacked by a wild animal--unless you save your animal before it dies--and animals sacrificed on altars. Also prohibited is dividing the meat through a game of chance; this is an abomination. (6145) Say, "I do not find in the revelations given to me any food that is prohibited for any eater except (1) carrion, (2) running blood, (3) the meat of pigs, for it is contaminated, and (4) the meat of animals blasphemously dedicated to other than GOD." If one is forced (to eat these), without being deliberate or malicious, then your Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful. (2230) "Those who reverence the rites decreed by GOD have deserved a good reward at their Lord. All livestock is made lawful for your food, except for those SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED for you. You shall avoid the abomination of idol worship, and avoid bearing false witness."

573 is a verse widely misunderstood. It actually deals with consciousness, however most think it deals with "everything" or something else. Some utter it as a quasi-understandable statement, without an accepted meaning. http//www.islamawakened.com/Quran/57/3/ From the various translations, we can see that "everything" is the typical understanding of the phrase. Qaribullah "He is the First and the Last, the Clear and the Hidden. He has knowledge of all things." seems to be the closest. The true translation of this verse, and meaning, is "He is the First Word, and the Last Word, The Evident and The Innermost." It is a statement about immanence. We find the expression in the bible aswell, as alef-tav. And Jesus says, he is the "alpha-omega" which means the same. Alef is the first letter in the hebrew alphabet. Tav is the last letter in the hebrew alphabet. Originally it read, First Sign, Last Sign, and was simply denoted A-Z. (or alef-tav). And in this context, sign can also mean word. You also find the expression in the Bible, John God was the word. (I don't know if is has been mistaken for "was" here, as sometimes happens in translation.) Some hinduism also states the same. And that might be remains of the original Abrahamic faith. I understand the phrase alef-tav, as "To listen to mind alone, is to worship the one God." Peace be with you.
