Salam(peace) Sis Dotty sun
Ahamdellalah (Thanks be to God)! I am so happy for you! I am an american convert too, for about 4 years too! I am so happy to have found Islam, and the glorious Quran. Do not be scared or overwhelmed by this site and studying of Islam, whenever you feel doubt or need time out, always refer to the Quran. It is complete, and will always make you feel better. I am also from the US, I live in the NW. Have fun searching and exploring and learning in this forum, while it can be overwhelming at times, it is a Godsend! I love this forum.
Peace,
Honor

I try my best to follow the Quran alone. It is confusing at times... especially with so many different translations out there. My husband was a follower of the hadiths when we first met, but after so much studying of the Quran together, he has left them, and now with me, he tries his best to follow the Quran alone.
You are very lucky that your husband is such an understanding person. Anyway welcome welcome.

The best of greetings to you, Dotty,
Welcome aboard! sun
I'm also from the midwestern U.S.--originally. We're all learning together, and we learn by sharing our understanding with each other. Knowing Arabic or not is not a shortcoming--I believe we all have insight --some in one area, and others in other areas. So, please share what's on your mind whenever you get the inkling to. I'm sure you'll find someone who shares your point of view here!
God bless both you and your husband.

Well actually, I don't eat potato chips very often, but I like hot/spicy ones the best... as long as I have a gallon of water to wash it down, lol. When I was living in Pakistan I got used to the hot/spicy food, but since I came back to america I don't eat it much anymore.
God bless,
dotty
