      Salam.

Is it possible that there were female messengers but the disbelievers killed them in such horrible way that it was soooo awful and nasty that it just ..... is not for public?

The Exalted GOD AllPowerful knows best.

I don't know, if there were any female messengers but The GOD did say that HE has sent many messengers, some HE spoke to Muhammad, some HE didn't. I forgot the verse and the chapter where it says .....

      Peace.

I still do not find any plausible logical reason why no female messengers are mentioned in the quran....While we are on the topic how come all the messengers seem to be of middle eastern extraction? Where is prophet bob dole of the US,or rasul kodjo from kenya? And why no more new messengers in the last 1400 years?

Maybe the messengar was told only about other messengers from his area. God says there were many others, but He did not tell him about. Those others include bob dole and kodjo

              Peace Ahmad,

Yeah, that's what I thought - Men have ego. If the prophet is a female, imagine the prophet's husband. Men naturally can't stand having a women telling them what to do.

              Movie recommendation The Queen. ;D

There are many Messengers that we do not know because of the erosion of time, as well as a Revelation given to them. How dare we say that God can not produce a female Messenger as much as a male One! God can do and ordain whatsoever Ey wants, and I have firm belief and surety that God did have some female Messengers in the past.

I believe that Muhammad is not the last Rasul, and that there will be more Rasuls in the future. Who knows, the next one could be a woman, for all its worth. If one could speculate that Deganawida and Quetzacoatl could have very well been Messengers of God, why not women?

Besides, what will the husband do while the prophet is out preaching? Cook, and do the washing? I'm not saying he can't, but it's just weird.

cough I don't mind women telling me what to do, as long as I also have say in the matter. God loves justice, and it is Eir gift unto us! ^___^

I also already like to cook and do the washing, lol...

                    peace all ?

. i don't know the exact verse now, but doesn't God say in the qur'an that there have been sent messengers/ prophets (oh, which one now i don't remember..) to all peoples and lands?

. could someone make clear for me the difference between a messenger and a prophet? the arabic equivalent distinction being rasul and nabi, i believe ? but i guess i mixed the two up ? who's who?

. this leads to the question of Muhammad being the last of the prophets. is he said to be the seal of the prophets or the seal of the messengers?

                    and God knows all
                    and God knows best.

Don`t know whether or not there have been female messengers, but would just like to mention that the Old Testament (Bible) mentions prophetesses like Miriam (the sister of Moses and Aaron, not the mother of Jesus) and Ruth (I think) and others...

You are a shame to this place and even shame to the kafirs, I have to add you to the shamless list of free islam, however I dont even want to waste the 3 minutes it will take me to do it with a clear cut enemy of Islam like you

I LOL'd at that comment. Anyway, I think action should be taken against this clear personal attack.

i think if the person who was attacked complains then maybe action should be taken. however, i doubt lobster is all broke up about it, so i think it should stay so that we can all have a laugh at the ridiculousness of it all

                          back to the topic

just because we don't read about female messengers or prophets in certain books does not mean they never existed. that would be like saying that because we didn't read about women in history books that women didn't exist at that time. it's simply because they were not mentioned in this specific publication for whatever reason. maybe that reason is so that eventually in the future people would be able to discuss on free minds forum whether or not there existed female messengers and prophets

Its a common behaviour of so called religious people. They think if they take care of God they have to rude with the people. And you can easily see such people burning in their own hell.

I believe the reason is blindingly obvious. Take this as you will

Men are leaders. Throughout history, how many females have taken up leadership roles? Slim proportions. There might have been a female messenger or 5000, but are we in a position to a) know, and b) care?

                                      No.

Male domination......even god is referred to as He {/quote]

The 'he' referring to God is not gender specific (in the arabic language) as far as i know

Though they are not referred to as such, i would consider both mary and sheba messengers. Mary being an exemplary woman to follow and sheba originally an idolator seeing the signs converted

The reason could be... as sad as it is .....'men' don't respond as well to 'women'..... its not God's law i don't believe but the way men/humans think

um... do you go automatically from "i hear no mention of it" to "it must not be allowed" in every aspect of your life?

And if women were messengers then why no mention of even ONE woman messenger in the quran?

why no mention of chinese messengers? mexican messengers? inuit messengers?

perhaps it has to do with the audience it was being delivered to, who knows... or as i said before, maybe it was purely so that this topic would be discussed on free-minds forum in a distant future.

Surely women messengers would help to erase the misogyny and oppression women face in tribal society and religion?

not all tribal societies treat their women with misogynist tendencies. maybe those societies received women messengers in the past then? or maybe women being treated with a misogynist mindset has very little to do with messengers and their gender at all (my vote is for this one)

Surely women messengers would help women a great deal in their quest for human rights?

messengers aren't about human rights, they are about spiritual quests
