Origin of life

Well, what's life?
Replication and metabolism, apparently.
Definitely not consciousness.

Very interesting johhny k,can you elucidate on your thoughts a little more....I find the notion that all the energy combined equals god,and the infinite time to evolve an infinite intelligence very interesting...
How would you explain how an infinite length of time has already passed, isnt that a contradictory concept? I mean how can there already have been an infinite period of time passed if there is still more time to come? -
peace Jonny,
the quran says god has existed forever. It didn't evolve.
Plus, there's no evidence of this "infinite universe" yet. Maybe it exists, but "god" is not something that has to do with it, at least not the god which religious scriptures have mentioned. We knew nothing about infinite universes 3000 years ago, but we knew about god. -
Peace "lobster",
peace Jonny,
the quran says god has existed forever. It didn't evolve.JK- The term evolve is not tht technically appropriate because it happened in an instant since quantum particles do not experience time. It immediately happens in at those levels. But it gives the idea. And yes even if wed say "GOD evolved from infinity" then it still means He was always there so this is really only a matter of phrasing the terms.

JK- Oh i guess there were philosophers back then who thought abt time never having a beginning in an absolute sense, since it doesnt make any sense. GOD Bless!

I mean how can there already have been an infinite period of time passed if there is still more time to come?JK- The more relevant qs should be how cld anyone say infinite time has not passed? It would vilate causality since then we would ultimately stumble upon magic and that does not make any sense whatsoever. There always has to be a cause which causes something else and this had to be going on since ever. I posted an article stating that time does not have a beginning except in a relative sense and it is interesting that recently Hawkins pointed out the existence of an infinite universe from/through/in which all other universes evolve. This btw was in my mind all along. GOD Bless!

Ok johhny,so if there always has to be one cause preceding an effect how can there be a first cause which is uncaused itself?
ps;I do take your point somewhat on infinite time, but its infinite relative to humans.... -

Ok,i agree on that,so where does god fit into this? Why not an infinite number of lesser gods/causes?

JK- Coz over time they would combine into one singularity. Thats why we see the laws of the universe being the same all over also. And even by us humans applying the scientific method wer coming closer together and starting to resolve our disputes. This is how the system gets ahead, otherwise at some stage it would destroy itself and if equal creation and construction occured through infinite time there would be what i previously termed as the infinite intervention problem and nothing could exist. GOD Bless!

Isnt it a law of the universe that no single thing (ie,god.) can be infinite? Only the whole universe considered as a whole can be infinite.
Creation+god= bigger than just god....... -
God is out of the universe?
Is it SERIOUSLY that hard to fathom such a thing?
-
Ok,jesus, krishna and zeus are out of the universe as well......
Tell me how they interact with the universe when they are out of it? -
If I knew as much, I would.
But why is an all-powerful entity unable to interact with what they created?
-
The issue was how can an entity OUTSIDE of the universe interact with the universe?
-
Does ANYONE know?
-
Ok,we will see what others think,i think an entity that is not of this universe and not subject to its laws cannot interact with the universe, making it moot and fictional....
-
An omniscient omnipotent entity that CREATED the universe?
Again, I ask, why is it difficult to fathom such a thing?
-
Its not about fathoming it,its about proofs for its reality, and how this entity interacts with the universe? Why did god say ponder his signs if all we have to fathom is that its a possibility he exists? Why cant a christian say 'why cant you fathom god having a son,or god becoming a man? Isnt god all-powerful enough to become a man on earth...???? who to believe muslims or christians? Capiche?
-
From a Muslim POV
We can fathom God having a son. In the Quran, God denies this. Therefore, we deny that God had a son. Capiche?
"Why did god say ponder his signs if all we have to fathom is that its a possibility he exists? "
Who brang about the matter in the Big-Bang?

YUSUFALI Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? Are we not made of some 80% water? Did we not originate from clay particles and that which is in the soil?

Peace "enquirer",
Isnt it a law of the universe that no single thing (ie,god.) can be infinite? Only the whole universe considered as a whole can be infinite.
Creation+god= bigger than just god.......JK- First this cant really be called a law but it is logically true for a finite universe ofcourse. A law is something which is not just true because logic disctates so like 2+2=4. Conisder gravity. Cldve been different. Cldve acted differently like dimishing by the power fourth of the disatnce instead of square as it increases. Electrons couldve moved differently if the laws of the forces were different. Now we already discussed tht 1) theres either an infinite no of, over interrelated relativ infinite time, universes which all interconnected over infinite time becoming an intelligent harmony 2) there is an infinitely great universe like Stephen Hawkins now propoeses which infact also makes more sens eto me from which all things evolve/are created. In any of these two cases a single infinite unit Intelligence is bound to evolve given infinite time which also must have passed if wer not to violate causality. It doesnt make any sense otherwise. GOD Bless!
