    Peace,

Ive been reading about a new way that they are speculating on time travel, although its currently not possible as we dont have the technology. So Ive been thinking, if we are able to time travel to the past, how would that be placed in Islam?

Time Travel to the future is already possible, as in space time apparently slows down for them, therefore they age slower from what Ive heard. Faster they go towards the speed of light, slower they age, and when they come back, time would have gone by.

So what are youre opinions on this matter?

    Peace

Using my extremely vast knowledge in this area & (A brief history of time - Stephen Hawkings). Theoretically if we could go faster than the speed of light only then would you be moving backwards in time. Using particle accelerators Scientists have approached very close to the speed of light but are not able to currently match it. Also my common sense tells me its not possible.

      Peace

Ive heard that as well, IF we past the speed of light. I believe that they actually found something that goes faster than light

        http//www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2007/08/16/scispeed116.xml

Not quite sure on the details but Ive read some other articles on that issue.

What "common sense"? Its like saying if you lived 200 years ago your common sense would tell you that its impossible to fly in the air, or many other things. I put Time Travel in that area. Just because we cant comprehend it at the moment, doesnt mean it cant be possible. I know that there are paradoxes on the issue, but still.

        Peace

actually time travel is possible, it's just not done in a physical body,
it's done by having an out of body experience, well, you'd have to spend a lot of time trying, you know.

i heard that from several people who do out of body experience

as a matter a fact, people can see into the future, happens during dreams when we're already out of our bodies, we're just not aware of it, then when we wake up we sometimes have a deja vu, like something already happened, you know.

            Peace amuslim,
Interesting article, I did some quick google searches and it related to something called quantum tunneling.

            http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_tunneling

In quantum mechanics, quantum tunnelling is a micro and nanoscopic phenomenon in which a particle violates principles of classical mechanics by penetrating or passing through a potential barrier or impedance higher than the kinetic energy of the particle. A barrier, in terms of quantum tunnelling may be a form of energy state; analogous to a "hill" or incline in classical mechanics, which would suggest that passage through or over such a barrier would be impossible without sufficient energy. However, because of differences in terms of scale and interaction between quantum and classical mechanics, practical applications of the latter would be inaccurate.

              Peace all

I have referred to astral projection before. Although I do not have a firm opinion on it, I think it is interesting and it talks about the likes of time travel. And a lot of it lines up with the quran. I don't think it's too far fetched. Here is a link

              http//www.spiritual.com.au/articles/astral/astralp2_rbruce.htm

If you scroll down to "Akashic Records" it talks about time travel type stuff, and it sounds awfully close to the "record" talked about in the quran. Just pointing some intriguing things out.

              Peace

ok for now i don't think traveling through time physically is possible, at this time,
few hundred years from now, who knows

yeah, i think this 'book' mentioned in the quran is refering to this out-of-body world, where everything is 'written'
                    makes sense to me

I would do anything to be able to time travel. My first destination is surprise surprise, 7th century Arabia so I could meet Muhammad once and for all.

                        !

Be sure to bring a notebook, pencils, voice recorder, as many recording equipment as possible bro. And do bring us back some authentic hadith! Or if you can't go back at least leave the notes for us to find.

I would go back to Jesus and record his words, then become a Byzantine emperor, mysteriously "die" in the early 6th centruy and compare and contrast with Muhammed.

I'd say that when time travel is made possible by scientists, their words will be retrofitted into quranic verses which will instantly become miraculous (because they predicted time travel thousands of years ago). That's how it'll be placed in Islam.

And then we'd endlessly debate about whether it's morally right to go on time travelling family vacations.

Which is why the title says "If". Actually many things from Star Trek, which is fiction, is becoming fact or is fact already.

Personally I dont think it would matter. I dont believe its possible to alter history and if we tried, we would just end up causing the event you wanted to prevent.
