Cheering for the Bully to Save the Victim! Pakistan and beyond

What the Hell do you mean by civilized? We are a civilized nation, there are black sheeps every where, if a young student in california kills his school mates by gun shots, does it mean USA is uncivilized.
Maybe I needed to have been more specific. The general laws put in place to protect the people are far better in other countries than Pakistan and i'm not just talking about the USA.
Yes I agree with you every nation has black sheeps but I'm talking from experience here of what Pakistan is like and they do have a long way to go to become civilised and the key to it is EDUCATION.

I think BB died because God finally answered the prayers of decent pakistani people and took pity on the gullable. There was no assassin, no plot, no conspiracy just God.
Sorry Raj-ah, she created the taliban madrasas in pk... she turned the poor towards exteremism and the rich towards hedonism. Lets not get emotional and start re-writing
history.I don't think it's fair to compare Musharaf to Zia - the two are nothing alike. If anyone has heard him speak, they will know that he doesn't mince his words. This makes a refreshing change from the spin and bullshit we get in politics. The guy is sincere and that is good enough for me.
He is in a very difficult job, and for me has done the best that I expect of anyone. How many of us do right by our parents, children and spouses, imagine then how hard it is to do right by an entire nation and the world.
Remember the state Nawaz left pakistan in. It was on the brink of bankruptcy and a nuclear war with India. Both the economic situation and the relationship with India has improved vastly. He is only the guy the taliban will talk with, which is why the US&UK haven't assassinated him yet. If he is Americas poodle then why did he withdraw his forces from Waziristan and sign a peace deal with the Taliban and stop america from carpeting it. He is the only poodle I know who has openly critised the Iraq war on an American chat show directly contradicted bush & blair by saying the Iraq war had made matters worse.
If he makes peace with the taliban he is called a terrorist, if he makes peace with America he is called a puppet. I don't expect my politicians to be saints, all I expect sincerity and diligence.
At the end of the day there is only so much one man can do. Pakistanis are quick to fault the leader without questioning their own actions and contributions to their country. Right now, it's not Musharaf burning down businesses and rioting in the streets, it's the people - they have a choice.

Re suicide bombers origin
I'm not sure, but I believe the "Kamakazi" pilots were before "Tamil Tigers."
I am not sure that kamikaze are included in the category such as it is drawn. For one they were regular military, for another they fulfilled the orders of a regular established State command and it was regular warfare in a declared war against another army. Not that I have any interest one way or another. What I was trying to point out is that "muslim" "suicide bombers", fake or otherwise are not by far all that chracteristic, not the most numerous and not the most deadly even if they are the only ones that are continually drummed on the media. And if I point this out it is not either because I am fighting for an honourable place for Muslims in the suicide business, but because when we get fed something contrary to fact or distorting of it, there must be a reason to it and if we want not to lead with our chins we should want to know as accurately as possible what goes on and that we are in fact fed some facts and are robbed of others.

peace all,
Hasan Bin Sabah. 1034 - 1124
Not much is known about Hassan, but legends abound as to the tactics used to induct members into his quasi-religious political organization. A future assassin was subjected to rites very similar to those of other mystery cults in which the subject was made to believe that he was in imminent danger of death. But the twist of the assassins was that they drugged the person to simulate a "dying" to later have them awaken in a garden flowing with wine and served a sumptuous feast by virgins. The supplicant was then convinced he was in Heaven and that Sabbah was a representative of the divinity and that all of his orders should be followed, even to death. This legend derives from Marco Polo, who visited Alamut just after it fell to the Mongols in the thirteenth century. Other accounts of the indoctrination attest that the future assassins were brought to Alamut at a young age and, while they matured, inhabited the aforementioned paradisial gardens and were kept drugged with hashish; as in the previous version, Hassan occupied this garden as a divine emissary. At a certain point (when their initiation could be said to have begun) the drug was withdrawn from them, and they were removed from the gardens and flung into a dungeon. There they were informed that, if they wished to return to the paradise they had so recently enjoyed it would be at Sabbah's discretion, and that they must therefore follow his directions exactly, up to and including murder and self-sacrifice.

I almost agree with the article of KAMAL accept few pragraphs, it is well written article in general bravo bravo
Peace Rajah, I agree with you and I also almost agree with your own post too .
I also agree with 2pac, yes Pakistan has a long way to go, there is a Chinese quotation "don't worry about the slow pace, worry about standing still" and the good thing is Pakistan is not standing still.
There are some good point in almost every post here.

Salaams Br,
Even a slow pace is okay but only thing with Pakistan is it's pacing backwards- now that isn't so good at all!
But i hope good people can bring the baddies to account for their actions- Stiff action is the only thing with strong religious propaganda that such heinous acts will in fact take them to the edge of hell if not in it!
God Bless.
God Bless.

Peace sis,
I partially agree with you ) There is a faction who are trying to push us/take us back into time, and they are effecting the pace of Pakistan in moving forward. but the vast majority of Pakistanis are doing their best to move forward and I think we have moved forward in spite of these elements and their ability to cause destruction. If you remember, the government even invited the imam of kabaa to Pakistan to convince the mullahs of lal masjid to give up their hard stance, but they didn't. suicide bombing have been labeled unislamic by almost every major religious scholar of Pakistan, there are regular programs on such issues almost on every channel. The problem is that the only people who can make a difference are the mullah who mentally prepare these people for such acts, for them only they are right and for them only their interpretation of the verses of Quran in the light of hadiths is the right interpretation.
God bless,

Dear siki,
No doubt you have a deep look in to matters but here you seem to be influenced by the propoganda of EDIP.Benazeer Bhutto a great leader daughter of great leader, the first MUSLIM women prime minister, was always hated and abused by religous extremists and religous fundamentalists, this point Edip does not takes into account while commenting.
Benazeer Bhutto when first became elected as the prime minister of Pakistan, I remember the oppositions handbills with Quranic Ayats translated "MEN are rulers over the Women......". So this hatred for her was from the day first using Quran as support, it was often talked about in even some moderate muslim Pakistani's houses that "Now when a women has become the ruler of our country we will face wrath of Allah".Edip does not seem to understand the present position which Pakistan is in now, Al-Qaida has strong roots rather the Head quarter of it has shifted to Pakistan the land of Pukhtuns is fertile for their agenda demographically and culturally. Even the internet clubs and cafes are been exploded by bombs in urban districts such as Peshawar and Bannu. They are every where and spreading fastly, and the only attempt to stop them was by MUSSHARAF weather I like him or not. You have to study the history of these people where Al-Qaida and Taliban are growing and glowing, they are no muslims at all in my point of view, before the TALiBan they used to grow Hashish and Heroine and still perform five times prayers regularly, they used to kidnap innocent people from Urban areas for ransom and still fast for thirty full days, they are cancer of our society, no government of Pakistan dared ever to touch them, an example is that of AKBAR BUGTI just google about this war lord and you will know how barbaric were his acts, and he considered himself little God, and only MUSHARAFF government got rid of him.
I am no advocate of MUSHARAFF but in the present circumstances he is the best option for Pakistan.I almost agree with the article of KAMAL accept few pragraphs, it is well written article in general bravo bravo
what you say above is right/correct as well.

sikiYes i agree with you democracy should be in place but for that matter the political parties of Pakistan including PPP do not have a good track record. At least in media the freedom now was never enjoyed before.
