    Peace Narma,

It's my understanding that the code of dress, though somewhat specific, is more along the lines of, "don't purposely dress seductively". Think of the purpose behind the guidance.

Isit ever possible to successful and
still maintain and not break gods law?

Of course. Stay true to your art and the quality will shine through.

    Peace,
    Tay

My understanding is Quran has mentioned just to cover genitals and breasts. There is no special restriction to cover rest of body.It is cultural if you want to cover more than genital or breast.

If i was going to be an actor in a movie, i would become an actor that teaches people about morality(right and wrong), teaches them quran, science, historical fact, inspire people to have an healthy lifestyle through the role i played as the movie character, and lots of more. This is personally some of the things i would do if i was going to be an actor. You know probably a lot more than me when it comes to movies, so you probably have many great ideas. I think definitely it is good idea, and that you should follow your dream of becoming an actress )

My advice would be to stay away from the hollywood or any other big and wellknown filmindustry, because many sinful acts like, Profiting too much from movies, having sex to get a contract, having to kiss other characters, Warmovies and killing-movies, fiction that hypnotises the masses into living in fantasy world, and lots of other time wasting, unproductive and sinful movies are made there. It may also happen other corruptions behind the curtains that we don't know about yet. I don't want to only critisize because there are off course movies in hollywood that are good and moral too. For instance comedies like the comedies by jim carrey, will smith, and movies by al pacino, stallone, eddie murphy etc have been are very inspirational. But i think at least 80% of the movies from hollywood actually are garbage, and are movies that promotes sex, drugs, violence and other sinfull stuff, and do more harm than good. It sometimes seems like money is all they ever care about, cause quality and originality, inspirationality pluss lots of other factors don't contain in most of their movies. Because of these reasons, hollywood is therefore overrated in my opinion. Hollywood could have been 10 times better, and maybe even more. It could been a lot better if they made more inspirational, educational, truthgiving, scientifical, historical, and moral movies. But this would never happen, because these kind of movies don't sell. The movies that sells are fiction, action, drama and other kind of non-realistic and entertaining movies. And as long as people are desperate for fiction, action, and entertainment movies, they won't be able to see the truth, and they won't be able to think outside the box. Sad, but true.

Hollywood also make millions of dollars for movies that should be a lot less cheaper in my opinion. So if you want me to be completely honest with you Forget hollywood... FOR EVER....

Are you taking an actress education narma?
Why don't start your own little indepent-filmindustry/company in the future? Or contact morally people that have independent industries so you can be an actress for them? There are still many industries that care about morality and good deeds, and this is a fact. However, many of the movies they make may know reach the mainstream media or the television as much as the commercial and popular movie-industries. Below is a site with movies that are made through independent industries as far as i know, and these movies have many messages, and teach people morality, truth, science, history etc

This verse should give you an idea on what kind "dress" you can have.

2431 And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and keep covered their private parts, and that they should not reveal their beauty except what is apparent, and let them put forth their shawls over their cleavage. And let them not reveal their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their women, or those committed to them by oath, or the male servants who are without need, or the child who has not yet understood the composition of women. And let them not strike with their feet in a manner that reveals what they are keeping hidden of their beauty. And repent to God, all of you believers, that you may succeed.

In this verse that "they should not reveal their beauty "means what?
The most beatiful part of the body is face .Should we assume the face exposure to other men is prohibited ? Or does it mean something else?

Yeah, I do partly agree with you David however. film is about being creative and and pushing the boundries in creating something different. But i do thing that inlcuding sex or too much sensuality in film is a bit pointless unless its about love between to people.
The kind I movie i like to write about is films that will shock people or suprise them. Films about the relationship between a parent and child or even a war film about children that are caught in between these brutal acts and how they are the victims in wars etc.
But it is true hollywood is a sinful city and Im not likeother girls who are into this whole 'celebrity' lifetsyle..Its very pointless., honstly the only thing I love about what comes with the whole lifestyle is that you get to go to movie premieres and doing interviews with people regarding you or your films. There i have an chance to be me and tell people what makes me who i am, which is ISLAM.

I think thats quite true, You shouldn't dress sexy or seductivly weather its for a film or not. But sometimes there is some films where they person might wear shorts but not being sexualized for example the new film 'Smart People', Actress Ellen Page character seems to be a very quiet and humble person even though there is a scene where she is at school in a Gym lessonand she's wearing shorts. Obviously i wouldn't do this role because of that but she isn't sexualised in anyway but its just setting the scene.

True david, But it can be hard when you dont have any1 that really believe in you.

By the way, I sort have come to an conlusion of what i might think allah meantby the limit in our dress code. Mainly always be modest and i think what
he mean by the 'lower you garments' is that women shouldn't wear something that is so short that when you bow down or sit that your body's your private
part is showing and like never wear something low cut especially if your trying to be sexy or whatever. Basically dont show isn't important and private
that only you husband should be able to see.

                          Peace.

May I remind that the lengthen or lower or whatever your garments injunction is given in the context of Muslim women being molested by disbelievers on the pretext that they couldn't know otherwise it ws believing women they were harassing and that in the next aya it says that such men should be banned from the place. So it is not a question here of women having universally to lengthen or lower whatever, but of deriving the disbelieving molesters of the excuse that they didn't know the women were believers, so they would then be banned from the place for their malfaisance.

                            Salaam

What is meant by "their beauty" exactly? With this description, one can easily argue that it is a woman's face, therefore she should not reveal her face outside her home. Or it can include her face, in addition to the rest of her "beauty" (her entire body, hair) and therefore she must be covered from head to toe, as many so-called Muslims claim. This is one of many verses that is left open to interpretation and as a result, gave men the opportunity to keep women segregated and oppressed.

Where God says cover your bossom, He could have said cover your whole body completely. This splitting hairs in something that is not a matter of centimetres but of common sense is really pitiful. You know when you are moving or dressing in order to this or the other. Sure as hell you do not need to measure centimetres or cover or ucnover ears or hairs for that. Any woman knows that. Acting as if in fact we didn't know and some scholar had to come to us and tell us how we should dress in order to be decent is the peak of helplessness and lack of idea of one's proper behaviour.

Another thing, this aya may have something to do with modesty, but it is not exactly or solely about that. As I see it is more about proper social behaviour not necessarily sexual, although it includes it. Please, notice that it says

And let them not reveal their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or THEIR WOMEN

Now, is there any sense inc overing your face in front of other women? With all respect for traditions which may have a practical foundation, I must say that something that resulting in this kind of thing cannot be anything intellectually honest and that it is a circus.

If you want to be modest you will be modest without paying any scholar to teach you how. If some or many men do not want to be modest and clutch at straws to throw responsiblity for their moral disease on somebody else, it is their problem and they must solve it. You cannot solve it for them and it would be counterproductive if you contributed in any way to uphold that travesty.

i had always read 24.31 to read "And tell the believing women to subdue their eyes, and maintain their chastity. They shall not reveal any parts of their bodies, except that which is necessary."

meaning that if a woman is cooking over a flame, dont wear long sleeves, if she is swimming, wear suitable clothes that enable your bouyancy, if it is hot, dont smother yourself in a black shawl, you can at least wear white to reflect the sun as the men afford themselves.

the logic behind KSA's law which forbids women from driving is that as a woman has to wear a black mask outside of her home with one slit for the eye (as this is what all that is "necessary" to see) though consequently they cant drive as this inhibits one's peripheral vision, and they could have an accident.

the farcicality of their argument really irks me as as i think it actually hinders many from the path of god which is what the quran criticizes jewish people of doing. non-muslims see this sort of behaviour and think "oh so this is islam in action, don't think i'll delve any deeper into that"

                                    Peace
I personally cover my hair, arms and legs. This doesn't mean I believe that the Quran says to cover my hair nor do I believe in the hadiths. I just find it comfortable for myself to make sure the areas God say to cover ARE covered. I also do like it when Muslim women say their "salaams" to me, though I know Islam is not defined by the hijab. When I became a Muslim, I focused on the religon first and then started to cover as it suited me. I don't believe that it is compulary though.

                                    Peace peace
