    Peace to all,

Dear brother Anthony, I want to say to you that I respect your efforts here on the forum, while I do not believe you are a messenger that does not mean that I think you are misguided or anything, in fact, you do seem to have good intentions and you are trying your best to openly learn and understand, and you have made some good points and seem to know the Quran pretty good, so, even though you called me a satan earlier, please dont think im trying to tempt you or call you away from God, cause im not, I think your a decent brother thats doing his best, and I noticed that you changed your mind a few times on certain topics as your understanding grew, which warmed me up to you. So keep it up, and keep preaching to us brother. May God guide us all to the truth as we perceive it to be.

    Kurt

    peace

This is the problem with your doings - "shahru ramadhan" is not a "month", and nowhere in al-Qur'an does it say to fast for a "whole month". This is conjecture. By substituting the words with other words, you completely changed the entire meaning of the Scripture, and The God is certainly aware of those who alter His translations... You say that it is clearer to write a "month", but if God's true meaning was not a "month", then you have forged a falsehood, and God will certainly judge the wicked. God (The High) doesn't run out of ink for His Scriptures, as His qur'an has taught us... A "qur'an" is a recitation, something read or recited. If you believe it was was spoken over a month-long period, then believe as you will. If you want to hold onto the traditional view of "ramadhan" being a specific month in the Islamic calendar, desiring to abstain on these days throughout this month, then believe and do as you desire... But don't alter The God's words, because you are only misleading others to the path of doom. Let each person study al-Qur'an and interpret it as they wish, and The God will surely guide the righteous. By changing the words, you only turn people towards YOUR BELIEFS, and these may not be correct. That would make you guilty of leading people to destruction. And The God is certainly the witness of all things...

    Peace.

    is this not the truth

2183 O you who believe, you are ordered to fast as those before you, it could be that you are fearful and obedient.

2184 A designated term; so whoever from among you is ill or traveling; then complete the number at other times; and as for those who cannot do without, then they may redeem by feeding any of the poorest of the poor, and whoever gives alms voluntarily, then it is best for him, and it is best that you fast, if you are able.

2185 The Quran was sent down in the month of Rahmadan, to guide the people and to clarify the guidance and the Difference between Right and Wronge. So one should fast the month, whoever of you witnesses it. And whoever from among you is ill or traveling; then complete the number on other days.
God wants to bring you ease and not to bring you hardship; and so that you may complete the term, and glorify God for what He has guided you, that you may be thankful.

Transliteration Shahru ramadana allathee onzila feehi alqur-anu hudan lilnnasi wabayyinatin mina alhuda waalfurqani faman shahida minkumu alshshahra falyasumhu waman kana mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara yureedu Allahu bikumu alyusra wala yureedu bikumu alAAusra walitukmiloo alAAiddata walitukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakum walaAAallakum tashkuroona

Literal (The) month (of) Ramadan , which the Koran was descended in it, (is) guidance to the people, and evidences from the guidance and the Separator of Right and Wrong/Koran , so who witnessed from you the month, so he should fast it (E) , and who was sick/diseased or on (a) journey/trip/voyage, so numbered/counted from other days. God wills/wants with you the ease/flexibility and does not want with you the difficulty/hardship , and to complete the term , and to greaten/magnify God on what He guided you, and maybe you thank/be grateful .

Why don't you translate the word "ramadan"? After all, this is the most important word in the passage to understand the timing.

The word comes from the root RMDh and the various forms share a common thread of "hot", "scorching" and "red hot". So for example, when someone has a red eye, his eyes are said to be "RMDhT". It is also used to describe someone who has a fever as well as red glowing hot coals.

As Ahmad indicated above RMDhAN means scorching. I would like to add that there are two main connotations of the word "heat" and the color "red". So now can you retranslate 2185 with the correct meaning of the word RMDhAN as "red hot"?

            Peace,

            Ayman

              Peace all,

this what I get so far. It goes somthin like this

2183 O you who believe, you are ordered to fast as those before you, it could be that you are fearful and obedient.

2184 At certain times; so whoever from among you is ill or traveling; then finish at other times; and as for those who cannot do without, then they may redeem by feeding any of the poorest of the poor, and whoever gives alms voluntarily, then it is best for him, and it is best that you fast, if you are able.

2185 The Quran was sent down in the hottest month, to guide the people and to clarify the guidance and the Difference between Right and Wronge. So one should fast the month, whoever of you witnesses it. And whoever from among you is ill or traveling; then finish on other days.

Does it say in the Quran that you can eat after sunset, until sunrise during your "fast"?

And also, to my understanding of 2184 ( counted/numbered ) is that this fasting period is " well known", " made known", " revealed ", " told", "specified" , " recorded ( ?calender? )", "marked ( ?calender?)" , " instructed" "commanded" ect...

In other word I can translate it to

A well known fasting period/ a made known term/ a specified time/ a revealed time or period of time...ect...a recorded or marked period of time

Meaning that the time we are to fast has been made known for us... It has been ordained...or revealed

So o.k., the hottest month... For some the hottest month is in july ( using the regular calender ) ... and the month Rahmadan ( using the islamic calender )...ect...

Thus, so if you are traveling/ roaming/ stray, then complete the fast at other times...( i.g. in the other months)... This part is to my understanding and theorys ect...( im usually right ), but it makes sence... that it is a certain month to fast( the hottest/ Rahmadan)...And if not able to fast this month then fast the other months, ect...

                  What uall think? peace eat

It says eat at night untill the break of dawn/ the first light...

Personally, I dont break my fast at sunset ( for it is still light at sunset and also sunset is the time for evening prayer not eating) for I fear of breaking the fast early, but I break it when it is completely dark/ when I can see a planet or star in the sky. This way I know that I broke my fast at " night" and not at twilight or early, ect...

night = the period from sunset to dawn esp. the dark hours...

                    peace

                      Peace Anthony,

                      You are making great progress.

2185 The Quran was sent down in the hottest month, to guide the people and to clarify the guidance and the Difference between Right and Wronge. So one should fast the month, whoever of you witnesses it. And whoever from among you is ill or traveling; then finish on other days.

                      What yall think?

Now compare your translation with 971 which says that the great reading was sent down in the night of measure

                      1. We have sent it down in the night of measure.

Now there is a contradiction between your translation of 2185 and what 971 is saying.

Most people brush off this contradiction and instead continue to have faith in their traditions and their completely arbitrary and meaningless so-called Ramadan month. Instead, they should realize that there is an error in how 2185 is translated. Looking at Classical Arabic dictionaries, one can see that the original meaning of the word "shahr" is "full-moon" and this meaning fits perfectly in all the occurences of the word "shahr" in the great reading. So now we know that 2185 is talking about an event that can be witnessed and not a vague month with a meaningless name. The "red hot full-moon" is a well known cosmic event that is the first full-moon after the summer solstice (see my avatar). It is the easiest cosmic phenomenon to witness in the entire year in the entire night sky anywhere around the world.

                      Peace,

                      Ayman

2187 It has been made lawful for you during the night of fasting to approach your women sexually. They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them. God knows that you used to betray your souls so He has accepted your repentance, and forgiven you; now you may approach them and seek what God has written for you. And you may eat and drink until the white thread is distinct from the black thread of dawn; then you shall complete the fast until night; and do not approach them while you are devoted in the temples. These are God?s boundaries, so do not transgress them. It is thus that God makes His revelations clear to the people that they may be righteous.

Layl has been described in detail in AlQuraan as in
106 (night and day are mukhtalif),
1712 (very clear definition of Layl and Nahaar),
3637 (another very clear definition of Layl)

But unfortunately, most of the people break their fast near to end. I think this has been planned and spread in Muslims to make their fast void. And they follow.

May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

one can see that the original meaning of the word "shahr" is "full-moon" and this meaning fits perfectly in all the occurences of the word "shahr" in the great reading.

How do you translate "ALSHSHAHRU ALHARAMU BIALSHSHAHRI ALHARAMI waalhurumatu qisasun famani iAAtada AAalaykum faiAAtadoo AAalayhi bimithli ma iAAtada AAalaykum waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeena" 2194

                                Please explain.

I dont mean to get off topic or nuthin but I have a ? and would like to know what yall think and also for us not to get off topic either...

But to help me wit this translation

O.k. we will use the word " month/ lets say 30 days"

what if a person fast for lets say 15 days and then on the 16th day he gets sick or something were he has to break the fast or he broke the fast unintentionaly ect... Do you think that he would have to only make up for that 1 day missed in another month or would he have to start the whole fast over beginng with the next month and then complete that whole month in order to complete a full term?

what i am seeing cant really put it in words without probly adding something ect... its like fast the whole month of Rahmadan, but if ill then fast the whole month of sawall ect...

or is it just make up for the days u missed in the other months...

Yes, it is; either by fasting the same days that you breakfast or by feeding Poor people.
