Siki, are you up for hard work? Let me be the first one to start it and analyse this word linguistically. All on this board and everywhere are insistent that it is "Azwajika". In this verse 3359 and preceeding 3350 it stands for wives of prophet. Hence, grammatically all asume it to be a noun. Does anybody on this forum differ from this conclusion?

Azwaji-ka means YOUR mates or spouses, the 'Ka' is a 2nd person pronoun, denoting now, present tense NOT past tense.

This ayah and word was appropriate during the time of the Prophet, but the Prophet is no longer here.

Nor is it referring to a plurality of multiple wives.

If it was referring to the Prophet it would be Azwaji-ha, which is a 3rd person reference, referring to someone or something who is NOT present or in the past. It would also be preceded by a preposition like 'ida', denoting a past tense reference.

So in nutshell, you are saying that, this word, if it is a word. It is a combination of a noun and pronoun. That is Azwaji, a noun and Ka a pronun. Am I understanding you correctly? Is this how everybody understands it as well. Peace and love.

Yes, Your understanding is correct in regards to my observations.

How everyone else understands it, is beyond my perceptions.

Only, one so far saying that Azwajika is a noun followed by personal pronoun. Azwaji + Ka. Is the no answer from anybody else, suggest all in agreement. If not we need some descenting opinions. Lot of friends on this forum have Arabic as their native language. Peace and love.

                          salam,
my grammer is not great, but in arabic if he were speaking of singular then he would say zawjatika.......azwajaka is plural
also the word 2ojorahoNNA which comes after the word azwajaka also implies plural form which the NNA is used for plural , if it were singular it would be 2ajriha............ in 3350 again if it were singular it would bi lizawjatika there would be no hamza or an alf infront of the L.......as in li2azwajika

                                So far so good...

denoting now, present tense NOT past tense.

A prnoun has no past or present...just as a noun. If you mean the whole sentence, then this is redundant since the verse is addressing the prophet at that time when he was alive, which we know, and are not deducing this information of "past address" from the construction of the verse.

In ANY language reference, a 2nd person pronoun is present tense, the person who is present, reading or listening

3rd person reference is one who is NOT present, past tense reference to others

1st person is the person doing the speaking, in present tense, who is speaking to others who are present as such they are 2nd person.

ANY person speaking in 1st person and speaks about or references others in 3rd person, who are NOT present, thus is speaking either about them or in past tense, about them.

What you should be talking about is present versus absent; not present tense versus past tense.

Actually, we are attempting to develop a consensus of agreement. We are 'talking about' what needs to be talked about to develop that consensus.

At this point, it appears that we all agree as to the definitives of azawjika as it relates to Sura 33.50 and 33.59

The relevance of those ayahs is applicable to the current circumstance of the Muslim community. As such, the grammatical analysis lends itself towards the application of the instruction to the current circumstance.

Thats what we are focusing on.

Dear friends the word that your are considering as a noun Azwaji attached with a personal pronoun Ka is not one word or combination.
