1=2

This doesn't have to do with science, but it's an interesting little problem.
Does 0 equal 0 (0=0)?
Yes
Does 0 x 1 equal 0 (0 x 1=0)?
Yes
Does 0 x 2 equal 0 (0 x 2=0)?
Yes
Well, since 0 equals 0, and 1 x 0 equals 0, and 2 x 0 equals 0, then 0 x 1 must equal 0 x 2 (0 x 1=0 x 2).
Let's look at that more closely...
0 x 1= 0 x 2
We have to simplify this, and the only way we can do that is divide each side by zero0 x 1= 0 x 2
0 0
The zeroes cancel out and you're left with one equals two (1=2). Some of you will probably say you can't divide by zero because you'e calculator won't let you, but yes you can; it equals infinity. However, in this problem it doesn't matter what it equals because the zeroes cancel out. Obviously, 1 does not equal 2, so then what does this equation and answer mean? I believe it is true when applied to infinity. Think of the question which is closer to infinity, 1 or 2? Well neither is closer than the other hence they are equally close and so 1 has the same value as 2.

You cannot divide by zero because you end up with a singularity.

You can divide by zero. I see no reason for why you couldn't. 0/0= Infinity

On September 21, 1997, a divide by zero error in the USS Yorktown (CG-4 Remote Data Base Manager brought down all the machines on the network, causing the ship's propulsion system to fail.

If you can divide by zero, then I breath nothing.

Actually, forget about this topic. This equation doesn't work. I realise that now.

Peace bro "BT",
0/0 does NOT equal infinity. IT IS INDETERMINANT meaning that it can have ANY VALUE. 0 / 0 = 1,2,3,4.4,5.767,-2, etc because all would satisfy when yu cross multiply. say if 0 / 0 = 1 then 0 x 1 = 0 which satisfies the equation BUT also if 0 / 0 = -2 since -2 X 0 = 0 too the same is satisfied again. HOWEVER if yu say 0 / 0 = INFONITY then INFINITY X 0 should equal 0 BUT THAT IS FALSE. You got confused by thinking that since any nonzero value divided by zero always equals +ve or -ve infinity hence 0/0 shld also but that is not so as ive shown. GOD Bless! -

x / 0 = Infinity, where x is any number. It's very simple; how many times does something go into nothing? An infinite amount of times. -
Peace bro "BT",
yeah
x / 0 = Infinity, where x is any number. It's very simple; how many times does something go into nothing? An infinite amount of times.JK- x / 0 equals INFINITY ALONE for any NONZERO value of x. I made a little mistake but that is irrelevant. 0 / 0 CAN EQUAL ANY NUMBER NOT JUST INFINITY. 0 / 0 = 2, 0 / 0 = 5, 0 / 0 = -10 , 0 / 0 = 0 etc are ALL CORRECT. you can check this by simply cross multiplying as you did originally in your post. itd get 2 X 0, 5 x 0, -19 x 0 and 0 x 0, all of which are zero which is on the left hand side.
Therefore your original equation is only satisfied if you take 0 / 0 = 0 and this is possible. In other words 0 / 0 x 1 = 0 / 0 x 2 ONLY IF we take 0 / 0 = 0. This is also the reason why whenever such a scenario occurs where zero is divided by zero we have to determine the result of the equation by looking at other factors. In this case 1 not being 2 BY DEFINITION. You can't deduce anything from 0 / 0 and you can't just select any value of it at random and expect that to satisfy any particular equation. You can think of 0 / 0 being a variable x whose VALUE HAS NOT YET BEEN SET/FOUND and you need to find it by solving/looking at the equation. Thus your above equation is the same as x X 1 = x X 2 or 1x = 2x or x = 2x. Can we cancel out x and say 1=2 here? No we can't. But by looking at the equation we can derive the value of x which has to be zero for it to be satisfied. GOD Bless! -

Exactly, you can't divide by 0.

Yes you can. But the above solution that I showed is not valid.

Exactly, thats my point, you cant divide by 0 (or to put it in other words, when you divide by zero you dont have a real answer). laugh

Actually, it creates infinity. For example, it is believed that there was a singularity before the Big Bang occured. According to the theory, the volume was zero and the density therefore was infinite.

Are yes, but the volume was not zero. Zero does not exist in the universe.

Are yes, but the volume was not zero. Zero does not exist in the universe.
According to the Big Bang theory, there was first a singularity before the universe was created. Therefore, the singularity turned into the expansion of time and space, the creation of time and space. The singularity was not in this universe since it didn't exist yet. It existed free of space and therefore had zero volume.
d=m/v
d=m/0, 0=volume of the singularity
d=infinite
That's why scientists say at the beginning, the universe was infinitely hot and infinitely dense.
