Hi,
I'm really glad I found someone from Egypt here. I think since you live there you probably saw what happened to the country when it became "religous." People became mean, rude and intolerant. How can a country that has one of the oldest civilizations, and the most beautiful culture with the third movie production in the world go down like that? How can the country that has for decades been producing some of the best movies, music, literature brand all of these things as "haram." What's going on here? Why is all this happening?
I have to say one of the things that are really turning me off Islam is how people are becoming so bloody judgemental. You don't see Christians or Jews or Buddhists or in fact people of any religion behave like that. Last year I was interviewing a convert to Islam (I'm a journalist) and half way through the interview he said, "you know some people like to be middle muslims like you so that they can be accepted by the West." Now why did this guy call me a "Middle Muslim"? Because I'm not veiled. This is by the way a very small example. Muslims are becoming so bloody judgemental, always telling each other that they are not practicing the way they should. Which other religions do that? None.

i am also glad i found someone from egypt here handshakeYes indeed i am seeing what happen to the country and ppl, and it is devestating and frustrating, but that is not cos of religion, it is mainly cos of the system , ther is nothing called system in this country, every one is acting the way he like, no strict laws to follow so corrupption is every where, and for sure it is partially cos of religion BUT not God Religion, ppl in egypt are sunni , they r following man-made religion > which tell them whatever they do they r going to heaven.
yes egypt used to be a nice country, but that was before the militry revolution when the curve started decline.
Sill movies, music and song are largely produced in the country, it is not forbidden, and if anyone say it is haram, it is not from the quraan , it is from the traditional man -made books, who cares about these books ignore
we dont see christians and jews behave like that????!!! and what about the world war 1 and world war 2 and the holoucost and massacres in bosnia and kosovo, and burying ppl alive and the death and tortures of millions, was it initiated by muslims??? they were christians who did that horrible stuffs.
Islam has has nothing to do with all of that , it is a religion of peace and good deeds, if u want to know real islam u will find it in God book al-quraan.
Dont care about ppl or how they behave, you have ur own mind, you have ur own deeds.peace

So I take it that you agree that it would be a great Sin to reject the Quran after reading and studying it. Confused is a Moslem who has been praying for a while, as the post shows.

just had a realization after posting the one above. if God commanded us to believe in the quran, He will according to His Laws allow each of one us to, one way or the other, get to "meet & greet" the great reading.
may God increase our knowledge.

I find myself once again torn between Christianity or just not believing in a religion at all.
Don't be a member of any religion/sects at all.
Keep an open mind to get wisdom from religion or unreligion sources..Ask sincerely to God for guidance...
He will send His revelation to you, with or without the Quran...Here's a quote from one infamous non-religious guy..

Peace"Praying for a while" has nothing to do with reading and studying The Quran. Millions of Muslims pray regularly yet have never read The Quran. Thus, one cannot say "confused" read and studied The Quran and rejected it, hence my reply.
If you are asking as a theoretical then I would say it depends on what elements one rejected of The Quran. Rejecting any of the core message, e.g. monotheism, doing good deeds, being charitable etc would be a very bad thing, but if one rejected things like they do not agree with 100 lashes for adultery, then this is not as big.

Wakas, Rejecting is different from practicing; if I would run away from getting 100 lashes is not as saying "I do not believe that 100 lashes is fair, and thus, I reject"
The first is a fear of punishment and the second is disbelieving, as Saten did when rejecting God's order. Moreover, in the first I will ask for God's forgiveness and in the second I will not.To everyone

but what you are saying here is that, as god says we take what we want and leave what we dont want, its harsh to recieve a 100 lashes, never the less its gods law and we dont have a choice in it but to accept it as beleivers. if we reject anything in the quran then we are rejecting gods word. be it small or big.
reality is that noone is perfect, but i wander if in this society there was a law of 100 lashes for adulters. how many would do adultery.......... instead teenagers are offered free condoms for safety reasons. -

Of course, this issue is slightly problematic because we may not be looking at "satan" as the same conceptually. In any case, if you can bring forth evidence "satan" is specifically called a "disbeliever" then please do so.

If you feel rejecting 100 lashes for adultery, as an example, makes one a disbeliever, then I assume you regard yourself (and probably everyone in the forum) as a disbeliever, seeing as you probably use fiat currency which is against The Quran? -

My advise is as follows
- Investigate and become a witness to one of the greatest divine prophecies and signs and thus let God remove all the doubts in your heart in accordance to 7430-31 regarding the Quran. (You should reject hadith and sunna and all sectarian teachings besides the Quran)
OR
- Remain within your tradition as a submitter to God alone by joining a Unitarian Universalits church in your neighborhood.
