Number of wives?

But where is the refutation?
When you wrote the following underlined sentence, did you mean "It definitely supports polygamy"?
It does not however rule out polygyny. ?Wives of their adopted sons? therefore suggests whether a believer has ?
one wife of one adopted son,
many wives of one adopted son,
or many wives of many adopted sons, ? -

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance) For Allah is Most High, great (above you all). How is a woman guarding her chestity in the absence of one husband when she is having it off with another husband?
if she has more then one husband.
If the ayah is correct!
God Bless.

The verse doesn't actually say chastity? It says "what Allah would have them guard" - and that should surely apply to men to! Men should guard what Allah would have them guard.
So you're just taking your subjective opinion to say that female chastity is important, but male chastity is not. I disagree. I think both are important.
We all know that the actual verse about this is the one that says "forbidden to you are women already married, except those whom your right hands possess", however that verse is so subjective and open to interpretation that we might as well not bother. I for one think it right hands possess refers to husbands, hence "forbidden to you (in marriage) are married women, unless you're their husband".
But if we want to keep chatting on about nothing, I have no objection. FAR, are you unhappy about my bin laden comment?

Look closely and you will see its talking about the righteous women.........
Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard.
Nothing about the men guarding what ever is to be guarded in the absence of their wives......... confused
We all know that the actual verse about this is the one that says "forbidden to you are women already married,
yep! that is good though.
God Bless.

and BTW, a husband can also be "nashez", so he can be "disloyal" and have "bad conduct"; should she still obey him? Did God tell her to "lightly beat" him? Do you know of any justice, let alone a divine one, where the punishment is based on the gender? What did God ask her to do in the case where the husband is "nashez"? The answer will explain what "adribuuhunna" means, because it's almost the same action she can take get seperated, but God says that there's no harm if "you make peace between them".

If she can legally be married to more than one husband, she is still guarding her chastity, just like a husband married to more than one woman, unless you believe that in such a case he will not be guarding his chastity, and that I will definitely agree with.

but surely she can still guard it until matters are sorted.

yes that is what i meant, a husband isn't guarding it but flaunting it when he is with another wife.
So if she has to guard it when her husband isn't around only one husband option fulfills it- i think.
God Bless.

Why does she "have" to guad it and not flaunt it when she is with another husband?
-
Guard what?
Surely you know!
What does a righteous woman have that she needs to guard?
Why does she "have" to guad it and not flaunt it when she is with another husband?
of course , when she has another husband she can flaunt it, but only one husband at a time
Salaam Samia.

Surely you know!
What does a righteous woman have that she needs to guard?
The same thing a righteous man has that he needs to guard. Dignity and integrity.

So she would know whose child she is carrying. &
She does not have to if
- She is sterile or menopausal
-She is already pregnant
-he decides to have no more children - One of the husbands is sterlile
-Each husband is of different race
-She is smart enough to know to whom the child belongs - It does not matter who the child belongs to Each husband will have one assigned to him, or the richest will have them all ;D
- She is sterile or menopausal

liquid dharma
It's only the hadiths that tell us he had more than one wife at the same time. But even if it did, so what? He was a human being. He can make mistakes. The quran says he made mistakes.
See dharma gee, you are at very initial level of knowledge about Muhammad and quran, it seems, or may be you are pretending. There are verses those confirm that Muhammad had more than one wives at a time. Yes Muhammad can commit a mistake but on his every mistake Allah made a grip but not on practicing polygene.
I was not aware that a thread on almost same topic was being discussed here otherwise I would have not started a new one at general issues and questions. -
Of course! So, no more traditional excuses for why a woman cannot have more than a husband and peace of mind...well..sort of
Indeed she would get more then one piece- i think, when three of the husbands get hold of her at the same time...........Heaven Forbid!
just joking though ;D

Samia you and your other friends got this one wrong too, as in many previous cases. You are so impressed by west that don't mind even making fun of signs of Allah.
Sign of Allah is very clear polygene is allowed for a purpose and not for entertainment and enjoyment or to satisfy the ego of men. That is discussed in the thread started by me "Marriage issue"?
May be when in some war where 90% of deaths are of women and male population excels from the female in huge quantity than we can do Ijtihaad and may be then you and your friends could be satisfied for having more than one husband at a time.
