While you masturbate you definitely have to think about any one except your wife; otherwise masturbation is waste. So it is also adultery of a different sort but more complex and complicated. Masturbation perse is haram. But .....
"May Allah relieve us from doing wrong to our own souls!"Not to sure about your masterbation analysis, but no further comment (that is in regards to thinking about someone except your wife; what if you are single). And not to say that it is or isn't, but do you mind providing the ayaat of Al Quran that point out and prove that masterbation is adultery and more so haraam?

Sometimes masturbation can be an indulgence in the feeling. There are times I do not think of anyone. I could be reading up on sports and things of that sort.

Further, "alssiyami" or "sawm" refers to abstinence, not strictly fasting. Thus the injunction, by inference, would include masturbation, imo. I don't believe it's spelled out in black and white but is assumed by the context to include it.

Imo, the restriction on sex with one's spouse is in black and white, leaving masturbation in a somewhat gray area if we're reading things by the letter. As always, I believe it's about intention. "Yattaqoona" in 2187 seems to me to indicate walking the right path as the purpose of the abstinence. Y. Ali translates it as self restraint here and in 2183 as well. Yet, he goes on to translate the same word as "acting rightly" in 2224. I don't mean to sidetrack here but I feel it's important to illustrate that the purpose of the abstinence should not be overlooked. It is, imo, a sort of spiritual retreat as well as physical, not to learn restraint but to grow harmoniously, to re-connect. In either case, I would venture to include masturbation as something one should abstain from during the prescribed hours - but I wouldn't call it "haram".

Allah wants believers to stay away from sexual pleasure with their spouses while fasting. You could do a lot of things with your spouse. You can talk to them, go on a short walk with them, have dinner together etc. However, sexual activity involves 'sexual pleasure'. I would say it is this sexual pleasure Allah wants believers to abstain from while fasting.
As masturbation induces sexual pleasure, by reason and logic, it is a very wise thing to avoid it. Rather I would say it is a foolish thing to do for the believer who thinks over the Qur'an.

There's not even a single "sahih" hadith that states this. Some sunnis conclude that because Muhammad advised adolescents to fast when they're horny, masturbation falls in the category of forbidden things. This is not true, and I can mention a lot of instances where they don't use this kind of logic. For example Allah telling us to pay alms on the day of harvest/day you get your paycheck but the sunnis have made it once a year. Had they utilized the same logic then giving alms on any day other than when you get your wealth falls in the category of forbidden things, and it's also forbidden not to give alms on the day of harvest anyway.
Others hold the opinion that it is not haram as long as you are doing it to avoid what's definitely haram and that's sex with someone other than your wife.

Most also, not surprisingly misuse the verse telling you who you can have sex with. They think "masturbation" falls in the category of "wara-a zalika" (more than this). What they fail to comprehend is that the verse before it is talking about "gaurding your private parts" and how can you "ungaurd" it by touching or stroking it? You can't gaurd your genitals from yourself. You have to rub it clean in the shower and so on. By gaurding your private part from yourself you'd have one dirty penis.

WOW!! As a former Catholic, I am astounded at the openness to masturbation here. The pope and his minions consider masturbation as bad as murder...it is what they call a 'mortal sin.' Mortal sins are worshipping other gods beside God (that is ironic), trashing sacred relics and statues, murder, fornication, adultery, masturbation, stealing, telling lies about a neighbor, etc...etc...There is no distinction between these sins, and the sinner is doomed to hell if he is not absolved by the priest in what is called a 'confessional.' If a person eats and drinks the eucharist without confessing such serious sins to a priest before the distribution, then that is a mortal sin too. The rituals of the Catholic church are set up to beat you down at every turn.

A person I know thinks that it is alright to use mouth spray while fasting...I tried telling them that the liquid mixes into your saliva and when you swallow your saliva mixed with the liquid from the mouth spray your fast will be invalidated. but the person keeps asking for proof and does not believe me...can u guys help me to convince the person that mouth spray invalidates your fast
