Depending on the context sometimes it is the "royal we" referring to the one god, and sometimes it includes the controllers (malaika, mistakenly known as angels) in addition to the god.

http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WeI know that the English translation of the Bible used the Royal "we" a lot due to the time it was translated and the acceptance that God was King of kings and Lord of all. I just wonder if the Quran did the same?

One more question...
Is it truly necessary to perform the contact prayers in the rigid formulation that is prescribed in al Quran?? If so, they for what reason, other than al Quran tells us to do it in such a manner.

As a former christian minister and bible teacher I can say with some confidence that the trinity was a later interpolation by the Catholic Church.
Secondly, since when did a religion have to appeal to your personal whims or fancies to be true or not?
This is why I left the christian church, because there are so many thousands of denominations who split off because they happen to not like a particular passage or want it to say something else than what it says.
Please do not try and contort Islam to your own fancies, with all due respect.
As I have been active here, people may have seen me be stern or even at times harsh, as now. Yet, I am very fervent in my beliefs and as evidenced by progressive and my talks, I will admit when I am wrong.
Religion is not what we want to make of it. A religion is supposed to mold us and make us better over time, and if we have a lot of work (feels like God rakes me over the coals daily over my thoughts/behaviours, lol) then we should take the hammering process because it will make us a better person in the end.

Thank you. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think that you are sensing my ambivalence. I am new and testing the waters. I have not made the final plunge, so to speak. For me, as a Christian, formality in religion is shunned so that it does not take over worship of God alone. This is a reason for my interest in learning if the prostrations during the Contact Prayers are necessary. O0

I tend to believe all religions have done that. Christianity has without doubt right from about 300 AD. Islam has too, with Hadiths. If all the three Abrahamic religions could get back to their basics, there would be no difference between us.
