I have come across with numbers of sects within Islam having different interpretation of Holy Quran. Why are people having different interpretations and meanings of Quran. and Why is Quran so difficult to translate and does not have a single meaning which is shared by all Muslims around the world. and why God did not make it as easy as possible so that every one could have a single and unified meaning. progressive muslims interpret one way, submitters interpret the other way, Sunni muslims say one thing, Shuia muslim say other things, to name a few.

This ambiguity has caused lots of problems for a person trying to convert into this Religion.

      Peace,
      Respectfully.

We all agree that God is one, we all believe in angeles, His Books, Last day, Judgment Day, Resurrection Day, His Messengers, Heaven and Hell and we all know we will stand before God. We all agree that pork and alcohol are not allowed for consumption and so on.

We disagree on the tradition - unQuranic - we disagree on certain methods and so on.
I'm sure you see what i'm trying to say here.
      God willing.
      Peace.

I think that is what is intriguing about the Quran. Why should every single person who ever read the Quran have the same exact understanding of what is says?

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

We all agree that pork and alcohol are not allowed for consumption and so on.

We don't all agree on this and it's evident looking at this forum and my own personal opinion from studying the quran.

Now to answer the topic the wide interpretation you see in 'islam' is due to desertion of not studying the quran. The sects interpret using their own man made books(hadiths) and desires. If this was eliminated and everyone studied the quran on its own and allowed the quran to define and explain concepts then you'd find less complicated interpretations of the quran and easier to understand it.

But what you have to remember is that the quran is a living communication medium from The God to us so it's interpretation wouldn't be static but dynamic, changing with the times.

So to conclude it's not The God that has made the quran hard to understand, its us humans who have made it hard.

          PEACE

            Alen,

You say alcohol is forbidden while people in your own sect say it is allowed. This is what I wanted to ask. why different interpretation of a Holy Book?

Just to correct you on this. We are not a sect as sects are admonised by The God in the quran. I will give you a little analogy which kind of makes sense on why the different interpretations.

The God sends a signal(quran), we have a receiver(brain/mind), the problem lies in the receiver not the sender of the signal nor the signal itself. We have to tune our receiver when studying the signal or else you will get radio noise/static(corrupt interpretations).

Different interpretations aren't a bad thing as explained in my previous post.

              PEACE

I think Quran explains it in verse 37

Even within the same 'sect' of sunni or shia there are differing opinions, why is that not questioned? Do you believe only in black and white statements?

some people say alcohol is forbidden some people say it is allowed. We got a brain, and we got the scripture. We can decide what is right or wrong or permissible.

Just because some people claim to follow the same text and have differing opinions it doesn't mean they are right. right?

so it's frustrating people have all these views it's like why cant you just be like robots?? instability or inconsistent thoughts don't work to well on some people..

Inevitably we all get judged individually so tom Dick and Harry can do as they wish, though it's important from a muslim perspective that it is verified..

                Salam

I'm sorry, i should've quoted the relevant verse

2219 They ask you about intoxicants and gambling. Say ?In them is great harm, and a benefit for the people; but their harm is greater than their benefit.? And they ask you how much they are to give, say ?The excess.? It is thus that God clarifies for you the revelations that you may think.

590 O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and sacraments, and fortunes are an affliction used by the devil. You shall avoid him so that you may be successful.

                  Peace.

I don't want to turn this into a different topic as alcohol is discussed in many topics but the above verses don't forbid intoxicants. It's the excess we have to be careful of with anything.

This is called diversity, however we are reminded in the Quran to check our own self(nafs) first but sadly most refuse to evaluate themselves and spend all their time pointing the finger at others.... Don?t look at me look at them.

This ambiguity has caused lots of problems for a person trying to convert into this Religion.

It is no different from Christians with the Bible or Jews with the Tanakh. Everyone interprets them differently.

                          Peace Freemind0,

Every book that has been branded as "holy" is fated to be complicated (i.e. multi-interpretations). )
Even books that are not "holy" but are important works of literature have multiple interpretations.

The problem lies not with having multiple interpretations.
The problem lies (or starts) when a certain understanding is to be made an absolute truth to be followed by the mass without question.
Hence, differences in opinions or understandings should be normal and expected.

                          =adley=

What kind of easiness do you call it when some of your friends say Alcohol is forbidden while some of them say it is not. some believe in virgin birth of Isa while others say he had a father. Do you call this an easy Quran. if it were easy to understand, we would now have not so many interpretations about a single verse of Quran.

Here is an answer to your Question from your Lord

The people used to be one nation, then God sent the prophets as bearers of good news and warners, and He sent down with them the Book with the truth so that they may judge between the people in what they were disputing. But after receiving the clarity, the people disputed in it due to animosity between them. And God guided those who believed with His permission regarding what they disputed in of the truth. And God guides whoever He wishes to a straight path.
                                    2213

When people are disputing, find the truth yourself from the Quran...If God wants to guide you, He will.

                                    Peace

                                          Salamz/Shalom/Namaste... I bow to thee,

Quran (readings of scriptures/collections of channeling) is not complicated at all. You just need to realise the Diving withing yourself.

                                          Be blessed.

                                          Peace, Love and Light
